How To Use Imagination To Achieve Your Goals
All things are created in the mind first, then in reality
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” — Albert Einstein
Imagination is the starting point of all achievements. High achievers use the power of imagination to fulfill their dreams. Anybody can harness this amazing power and change their lives.
I came across this idea when I was reading the book ‘The power of your subconscious mind’. The role of imagination is to convince your mind that you are capable of doing big things. Imagination allows you to feel the achievement without even starting it. Imagination prepares you for tackling your obstacles.
Imagination can be applied to all professions from sports to sales. I have been utilizing the power of imagination for 2 years. Here are a couple of habits I try. Hope you can also use these habits to elevate your life.
1. Say positive affirmations in the morning and imagine them
Affirmations are the best way to start your day. You start your day with positive energy which keeps you in a better mood throughout the day. While brushing my teeth, I say this to myself:
“I am doing the best I am capable of. I am capable of achieving my dreams. Today I will do my best in every part of my life.”
One important thing to remember, when you are saying this, don’t forget to imagine yourself doing your best. For example, I visualize myself working hard in my office, running outside, having fun with my friends, writing my blog post, and reading books. This habit has made a positive impact in my life and helps me finishing almost all of my tasks every day.
You can also write this on a sticky note and put it on the bathroom mirror. In this way, you will never forget to repeat your affirmations.
2. Prepare yourself for big things by imagining them
Michael Phelps, an Olympic Champion, imagines his routine before he goes to sleep or after waking up. He imagines himself going near to the pool, jumping into the pool, and doing his laps. This imagination is an important part of his routine. It helps him do his training in reality.
We all can learn from Michael Phelps. I started following this habit recently. Before going to sleep, I vividly imagine myself running in the morning. Exercise is the most important part of my life and I don’t want to miss it. The key here is to imagine all the details. For instance, I imagine people, buildings, vehicles, and my route. It surely helps me running every morning. By imagining your most important activity, you take out the willpower from the equation and perform your tasks without thinking too much.
Another time I do it when I have a big presentation. Before the presentation, I sit quietly and imagine myself giving the presentation. I imagine myself saying exactly what I want to say. This prepares me for the bug stage.
“Imagination builds self — confidence which fuels the body to achieve big things.”
I have watched interviews of world — class performers and most of them follow this habit of imagination.
In Conclusion
Imagination helps us achieve big things. People should use this amazing power. It can create wonders in your life. Imagination can be used in multiple ways. Here are a couple of things everyone can try:
- Saying positive affirmations and imagining them simultaneously
- Imagine yourself performing big things
I have felt the power of imagination. I believe you can too!
