Today I’m writing about a brand new padlock. Another article on padlocks? What is so cool about this one? Well, it operates off a fingerprint. Yes, you can open this particular padlock with your fingerprint and this padlock will hold up to 10 codes (fingerprints).

So if you’re looking for an easy and simple solution to secure, small household items around the house, so you don’t have to turn your house upside down, looking for that key, this may be the solution for you.

Perhaps you have a small garden shed or maybe a medicine cabinet that you don’t want the little people getting into, or maybe you have a pistol case you keep in the nightstand next to your bed. You wouldn’t want somebody just walking in and opening it up. But yet, in the time of an emergency, you don’t want to be busting your butt, trying to look for the key that will open this new padlock, you can use your fingerprint. It’s so cool!

Once again, convenience is at your fingertips. You’re not going to have any more lost keys. It does operate with your finger. And as I said, it can hold up to 10 users or 10 fingerprints.

The provided instructions are very simple. There are a couple of repetitive steps to get your fingerprint to take to the software, but as mentioned earlier, it’ll hold 10 fingerprints. The first two fingerprints will be access fingerprints, meaning somebody with authorization will have to operate it first before you can add a second, a fingerprint or a third print fingerprint, fourth fingerprint, and so on. So it’s, it’s pretty cool. It’s, it’s a great looking padlock.

Let’s talk about some specifications. The one thing I like about this is that it does have a rechargeable lithium battery. There’s a small little charging port, right at the base of the padlock. It’s covered with an elect with a rubber coating. It’s also waterproof for outside use. The shackle thickness is about 3/16", so it’s not a heavy-duty padlock, but it’s something you could have around your house. The height of the shackle that you can loop around chains is about a 1 5/16th “

It has rubber grips on the side for a good grip. It comes in two colors silver or black, and there’s an LED status indicator. With the LED you have three colors. You have the color red, which obviously means stop. It didn’t work, wrong user, wrong fingerprint, etc. Then there’s blue. Blue is part of the programming feature. And when you’re successful, you get a beep and a green light! Presto, the shackle pops open!

Let’s move on to the pros and cons. In my mind, a perfect use for this fingerprint padlock would be on an inside medicine cabinet or a small strongbox that you keep a few valuables in. Another use would be where you store prescription medicine that you don’t want, inquiring minds and wandering hands finding. I think it would be excellent if you have a pistol case that’s storing your pistol next to your bed. If you wanted to put a lock on it, you could put this on there. It operates by your fingerprint. Once again, middle of the night, no trying to search for keys.

Now, this particular padlock is cool as it is. And I really do like this. Remember, this is not a high-security padlock by any stretch of the imagination. This is not to hide corporate secrets or at a military installation, or if you have a $3,500 zero-turn mower in your shed, and you have your golf clubs, etc but that still doesn’t mean this isn’t useful for the purposes it’s intended for.

I spoke with the manufacturer last week and they are coming out with a heavier duty version. That will be a two-inch padlock body, a quarter-inch shackle. And then the shackle height is going to be about an inch that you can put around a heavy-duty chain will still operate off your fingerprints. So that would be a better solution. I’m looking forward to getting one or two of those to test drive. And the other cool thing is, there is actually a very affordable price point! Now, because prices always have a tendency to change. I do not want to say prices right now, because as you know, in three months, six months, two years' prices may change. And there’s nothing we can do about that. But if you have questions and you want to know the price, schedule a call, we can discuss quantity, prices & I can ship these to you.

So once again, with this padlock, you can make your life a lot easier by not fumbling and looking for keys. You can have up to 10 users. Two of them can be the admin and the LED indicator lights, whether it’s red, blue, or green, give you immediate feedback on what the status of your padlock is.

So the moral here is you can secure miscellaneous household items with no keys, and you’re not going to have to turn your house upside down looking for them. Because let’s face it, after a few months of not going out to the garden shed, you might forget where you put that padlock key.
