How to Treat Medium Like a Job
Writing is fun, but it’s also a business.

I’m learning more and more every day that writing, if done well, is more than writing itself. It’s a business. There’s promoting, selling, and everything else in between after you write a book or article. The same goes for Medium.
There are those on this platform who write for the fun of it. Great! If you want to make money on here and potentially a living, you need to treat Medium like a business. Here’s how.
Show Up Every Day
If you want to be successful on Medium, you need to write every day. You’ve probably heard this a million times already in your writing career, but it’s true. You will not make money on Medium writing once a week. Instead, aim to write every day and publish at least 3–5 times a week. That way, you are consistent and your followers will find you faster than you know it.
Make Time For It
Treat Medium like your side hustle. In doing so, plan to do it every day. During that time, map out what you are going to write and how you will go about doing it. This will let you focus more on your writing and leave out any worry. When you make time for something and it’s consistent, you will no doubt find success. Medium is the same way.
Write With Passion
Great businesses are successful because of the passion put in behind them in their creation. The same goes for Medium. If you write articles without a plan or you don’t know what you’re talking about, be prepared for disappointment. However, if you have a passion for what you write and what you’re serious about, you will find success on Medium. It’s already worked for me and it will work for you too.
Closing Thoughts
Medium is a roller coaster of a journey, but that’s life. It’s a bumpy ride, so we might as well enjoy it. Take these tips and turn your time on Medium into a business. You won’t regret it.
