How to Submit Your Work to Her Vision

We want to hear your stories!

Art by L Schlissel on Mixkit

Her Vision is first and foremost a community.

We strive to create a platform where women who are boldly pushing their own personal and creative boundaries can connect and share their stories. Sharing is empowering, it reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles or our victories. It gives us strength in numbers and allows us to learn valuable information from shared experiences.

So if you’re a creative woman, we want to hear from you! Send us your tips and tricks, your stories about work (both funny and serious), or your struggles to grow as a woman and as a creator.

Submission Guidelines and Tips

  1. How to send us your work

If you’re a new writer, send a link to your unpublished draft to [email protected] with “New Writer Submission” in the subject line.

You can do this by clicking on the three little dots next to the publish button and selecting “share draft link” to get a sharable link to your unpublished draft.

Please also include a brief introduction about yourself and the piece as well as 1–2 links to your previously published work.

ALSO: We prefer that you submit member-only (gated paywall) pieces. By putting your work behind the paywall, not only do you get the opportunity to earn from your work (super important!) but Medium curators can also select your story for distribution throughout the site which means it will reach a much larger audience!

We also prefer unpublished drafts. This ensures that we can schedule your work appropriately to spend as much time on the homepage as possible.

2. Make sure your work follows the Medium curation guidelines

Again, we want your work to reach as many people as possible, so you must follow the Medium curation guidelines to ensure that your work has the best possible chance of reaching wider distribution across the site!

You can find them by clicking the link below.

3. Use appropriate tags on your stories

This helps readers find your story, and helps us to categorize it properly.

4. Use a high-quality, relevant featured image below your title and subtitle.

There are dozens of resources to acquire free stock images for your stories. Some of our favorites are Unsplash, Pexels and Mixkit but a quick google search will easily yield lots of results.

NOTE: You MUST have an attribution in the caption of your image. Stories that contain images without an attribution will not be published. Always give credit where credit is due.

Here is an incredibly useful article on proper image attributions:

5. No ads, sponsored content, or stories designed to sell something

We are here to build a community, not engage in blatant self-promotion or promote sponsored content. We want authentic, thoughtful work that educates, informs, or entertains. This is not the space to sell a product or course.

Also, links to newsletters and email lists are fine, but please do not use embedded signup forms.

Above all, we are here to shed light on the issues that face female creatives.

We are looking for work that addresses authentic issues that we face and provides value to the readers through specific insight, advice or observations. We are not looking for overly rambling diary entries or unfocused “stream of consciousness” writing. Make sure your work says something.

We can’t wait to hear from you!
