I have done the same, before quitting smoking. You see it is important to have reasons to accomplish your goals. The same is true for stop smoking. The same importance is to find out how you started smoking. Was it something you have tried and find out it gives you pleasure? Was it something you show other people who you admire doing, and so you start smoking too? Did your doctor tell you to stop smoking, otherwise in the next month you go to heaven?
I have seen a lot of people quitting smoking, because of the fear of death. Because the doctor told them so. I must confess, it works. But it would be ridiculous to wait until your health goes so worse until you stop smoking. I hope everyone will agree with that.
A lot of people find a substitute. Some of them start the electronic cigarette, saying it is much healthier. I personally find it stupid. Quitting one bad habit for another one.
I just say it. Smoking is a bad habit. When you realize it, you have won the half battle. The other half battle is to take the decision to stop smoking and have the willingness to do it.
Because it is a habit, you must put a lot of effort to change it or replace it with another good healthy habit. When I was stopping smoking, each time I was desperate for a cigarette, I did two things. If I was public I was taking 10 deep breaths and exhausted the air slowly out. Keep calm, you can do it, it is stupid to smoke, was my thoughts. When I was in a private place the deal was to take ten push-ups. That worked for me.
Another nice trick I was doing was to accumulate the money that was for the cigarette and each week do something that I wanted. Stop smoking and archive your goals was my slogan.
The ultimate truth is that the only way to cut smoking is just doing it. So easy. Just stop smoking. Stop buying cigarettes. It is a matter of willingness. Stop try finding excuses, stop saying yes but you know..., just hold your position. You took a decision, stop smoking. Just do it. The only way is to do it.
There are some benefits if you successfully stop smoking. You taste the food better, and your smell will dramatically improve. Each time you search your pockets you will find money, the money you were spending for smoke. Of course, your health will improve too. You will finally stop pant after walking for ten minutes.
