
How To Stay Focused For Months At A Time
Stop getting distracted and get focused
Gaining an incredible amount of focus isn’t a complicated formula and being able to stay focused for months at a time isn’t as hard as you might be thinking. All that you need is the following.
Acknowledge That You Need A Break
The human mind is a wondrous thing, but it can run short. There is only so much time where we can be completely focused on one aspect of our lives at a time.
Neglecting other parts of our lives have dangerous repercussions that can affect our performance in the area we’re focusing on. For example, focusing entirely on work can make you earn more money and career success, but it can neglect your health, and relationships you have with your kids or partner (assuming you have them).
Learning to be taking breaks frequently and working on other things to focus on is essential to being able to focus long-term.
It makes you realize that in order “to focus” it doesn’t just mean focusing on one thing and being really good at it. You need to be able to spend some time in other areas of your life.
Schedule Accordingly
You don’t need a planner in order to schedule your day. A simplified version is something that I use every single day.
Because it’s important to focus on multiple aspects of your life, it’s important to have tasks in various areas to be focusing on. Every single day, my day looks something like this:
- Work on my business (Clients, articles on my brand)
- Work on my health (A HIIT regimen or walking for 1 hour)
- Work on myself (Spend time doing something mind-numbingly fun, relaxing and allowing ideas to flow)
No more than 3 major things should be done in a day. And even then, you want to ensure that each one is reasonably allocated with all the other things going on in your life.
Drink More Water
Mild dehydration messes with your focus. You don’t need more caffeine or energy drinks to concentrate better. Drink more water.
Get yourself a nice water bottle and make a point of going through 2–3 bottles per day.
Get More Sleep
Like water, sleep also helps you to focus. 7–8 hours of sleep is optimal and your brain needs every bit of it in order to go through all the things it does when you sleep.
Set Yourself A Timer (If You Want To)
When it comes time to the particular tasks you’re doing, set yourself a timer if time is more sensitive for you. This helps trigger Parkinson’s Law.
Work expands to fill the time allotted.
If you want incredible and long-term focus, you’ll need to be exercising your brain to be able to really focus during a period of time. Being able to block off distractions and dedicate a small portion of time and energy is crucial.
It’s more crucial in situations where you don’t have ample time.
Stop Getting Distracted With Articles Like These
Productivity articles such as these ones are nothing but distractions. Sure they may be helpful, but they’re often written by white dudes with ample free time on their hands and a lot of privileges.
They don’t mention that but I do because I’d rather people focus on more important things than these types of articles. Plus the more I spread the word, the better it is in my view.
I’ve also kept this short so you don’t waste too much time reading through this.
Those handfuls of tricks do work when you add consistency to them. You’ll also discover other things that will help you to focus too. Add them to your arsenal for focus tactics and find what works for you.
Don’t go and buy productivity courses or read dozens of these articles ever again. The reason you’re doing this is that you’re procrastinating on what you should be doing right now.
