How to Spring Clean your Mind, Body, and Soul? Take a Visit to The Soul Spa.
Clearing the cobwebs inside us. Restoring and respecting our sanctity.
In the Vedic texts, it’s mentioned that our body is a temple, but in the mad race called life, we often ignore it and abuse its virtue.
Spring is the season of newness and fresh starts. It’s the season when flowers bloom and colors are plastered on the fields. We get ourselves out of the gray and gloomy winters and open our arms to sunny days and laughter. The arrival of spring is celebrated globally; it marks fertility and freshness.
Spring is synonymous with rebirth, and right away, we are drifted to clean all the nooks and corners of our house and put away those heavy piles of woolens that are making you feel suffocated.
God! I feel exhausted just by the thought of it. So why not twist the game this season and along with rearranging our wardrobe, let’s enter the season with high sprites and try to take out some time from our busy lives for the machine called the body ( oil it, change some parts, fix others, and love it).
As Mother Nature is doing her part to purge her bulb, this is time for us to do exactly the same. Let’s put ourselves first.
My three mantras for uplifting me during unfavorable times.
- It won’t matter ten years from now. No matter how huge your concerns may seem to you now but take my word “it won’t matter, and you’ll be okay.” Humans can feel very deeply and passionately, and hence we suffer and scare ourselves, but another genius of the lord is people also have the great gift to heal from trauma. You may not be entirely over things, but it will hurt less and less as time passes. From the loss of a loved one to career-low, you will find the light and will fulfill the voids.
- Don’t take yourself too seriously. You shall respect and uphold yourself. Attempt to live your life with dignity and grace, but you must not be too stiff to take life as it comes and appreciate its small wonders. Life is beautiful in its litter way and will continue to surprise you. We must be a sport and learn to have a little fun; let go.
- Look at the bigger picture; life is all about comparative misery.
Let us try an exercise:
- Close your eyes.
- Try imaging the earth’s size, now solar system, now the milky way, now thousands and millions of galaxies.
- Work to locate yourself in this infinity and madness.
- At last, attempt to think about all those spine-chilling and horrible incidents you have heard in the news or witnessed among friends and family.
- Think and compare your issues to theirs.
- Now count your blessings. ( I bet you are feeling better )
We need to convince ourselves that our problems are too small when considering the bigger picture. One can always find someone whose sufferings are much worse and intense than ours. Until we start having a comparative analysis of our situation and count our blessings, we will always feel dissatisfied and ungrateful.
How to take a Soul spa?
A soul spa is not a retreat you may visit for a couple of hours, a great massage will indeed release some muscular tension and give your face an instant glow, but we must admit the feel-good factor comes from within us, and reconstructing ourselves from inside is a long and laborious journey.
Happiness and satisfaction come from within ourselves. The material and worldly pleasure seem to glitter for 5 seconds, and even before you realize the shine is gone. You need to become in charge of your happiness, and if you rely on someone or something else to make you happy and feed your soul, you’ll surely be disappointed.

I have been consciously trying to put the following advice to practice for a while now, and I request you to indulge too……….
- Try positive affirmations. From time to time, boost yourself with some words of encouragement. I know it sounds funny at first, but think about those songs that make you feel powerful, like Hall of fame by The Script or Demons by Imagine Dragons. Words have the power to change how you think, so try this one on my recommendation. Think about your conflicts or concerns and find the words that suit you. Here are some ideas:
My possibilities are endless.
I am grateful for what I have
My thoughts become my reality
I have the power to create change
- Cut all the stress and anxiety streams out of your life, and avoid gossip and drama. By removing yourselves from a toxic environment that is full of unnecessary scandals and tension, you cut yourselves a lot of slack; by avoiding being a part of such negative conversations or group of people, you assign yourselves and establish yourselves as a superior, balanced, trustworthy, and mature individual.
This also includes abstaining from practicing hate speech, backbiting, slander, unhealthy relationships, passing judgments on peers, and other unnecessary impressions.
- Cry me a river. Crying is a way of unpacking and channeling out your sorrows. You need to have a good cry and let it all out; otherwise, it will erode you, and your feelings will tear you apart. Cry if you must, as meltdowns are regular; it’s a great mood lifter that reduces stress. Sometimes we need a good cry even when we don’t know what we are crying for.
Crying doesn’t indicate that you are weak. Since birth, it is a sign that you are alive.
- Learn to Forgive and be kind to everyone. This includes yourself. The surest way to ease your tensions and dump the baggage of the past is by letting go of grudges. People hold on to those aching memories for way too long. Getting rid of those negative emotions takes a lot of strength, but you have no other alternative. No matter how or in what terms it happened, you need to forgive the people who caused you pain. You demand to do so for your peace and a healthy mind. Forgiveness will enable you to think more productively.
To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you. — Lewis B.Smedes
- Be selfish. Sometimes in life, you need to take a selfish decision and make it all about yourselves; your loved ones will understand you. You are not a bad mother for wanting some time off or not feeling the routine.
If you look at humans with the glass of honesty, we all are a little evil, a little dishonest, a little coward, a little foolish, and a lot more selfish and that is the moral fiber of all humans and that’s what separates us from being Jesus. — — By Yours Truly
- Speak the Truth. All of us have a sea of thoughts and unspoken words buried inside us. Try to remember when you wanted to speak your heart and mind out, but you abstained from fear of rejection, being hurtful, or just being different. We often chose lies or silence to resolve issues. But is it a correct alternative? Of course, not the too weak relationships to handle the truth are too corrupt to carry forward. Speak your mind and let others decide for themselves, or you’ll always live in regret and discomfort.
The truth will set you free. So attempt to be transparent and honest in your relationships. You must communicate your beliefs and work toward a healthfuller spot. You never want to be harsh or inconsiderate towards other people’s feelings, but it’s crucial to speak freely.
Truth is not for comfort.
It’s for liberation.
It’s, not medicine, it’s a killer.
— Sadhguru
- Stop people-pleasing. There is a significant difference between being compassionate and being a doormat. If you spend too much time agonizing over what others will conceive, you will misplace yourself in the way and end up feeling uncomfortable and sick.
When you say ‘‘yes’’ to others, make sure you are not saying ‘‘no’’ to yourself.
- Be grateful and get linked to a volunteer organization or charity. Giving out is such a satisfying feeling rather than receiving, don’t get me wrong I love getting pampered and taken care of, but remember the time when you gave your mum or boyfriend a present and every time they wear it they keep mentioning it to the group that its a gift from you it’s such a gratifying feeling. Charity begins at home so try to be concerned about others’ needs and offer the little you can. Think about the things you are grateful for, like family, mates, lovers, meals, security, well-being, or the beauty of nature, and Use your voice and skills to do some welfare.
- Take a Technology Break. Belonging to the digital age, I used to be super addicted to screens. Most of us start and end our day, gawking at our mobile screens. The moment we can’t find our phones, we seem to become unsettled.
I Could successfully take a digital detox by occupying my brain and day with all sorts of exciting ventures, and I don’t let myself realize the absence or need to go on my devices. These are some of the tech-free activities I like, and I hope they might interest you too:
Taking long walks.
Spending one-to-one time with my partner.
Playing board games.
Colouring and sketching just like I am 5 again.
- Focus on one thing at a time. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by a mountain of tasks or backlog of work, you must write all those tasks down and break the more significant tasks up and put your mind in one thing at a time.
Believe in action and not procrastination, or wild juggling.
- Accept Your Flaws. No one is perfect, and everyone has faults, some more evident than others. It would help if you embraced them as they are yours. You must quit worrying and start acknowledging them. See inside yourself and find the scope of improvement, don’t be busy denying them or crying over them; instead, work towards growth.
- The journey to a felicitous future starts from redoing your past. One has to forgive themselves for their prior mistakes. You must surely take a lesson from history, but you can not give the relics of the disturbing or sorry past the ability to destroy your present and future.
These were the ways I provide my mind, body, and soul with some pampering and spend some quality time in solace. I would fancy listening to what’s keeping you up at night and laying you down during the day; I hope you liked some of my advice and experiences.
I hope you, too, get rid of your stress and strains and find equilibrium in life.
Thank you.
