How to spend some time with Yourself: Ways to stay happy
Give yourself time to rewind and rejuvenate your body, mind and soul.

In a span of 24 hrs., how many times do you think of yourself? …. okay wait!! that’s an exaggeration. We all are pretty much self-involved. (Not our faults, though I blame social media !!!) Anyway, let’s focus on your daily schedule- you wake up early morning to get things done before you head off to work, your work takes half of your day, then you come home tired and tried, and devote yourself to the wellness of your family (Thankless job, I know!!). At the end of the day, you feel like you are doing everything and beyond. But, if you think about it, are you sure you’re not missing anything out? In all these chores, where do you stand? Okay, for argument’s sake, you look after for yourself for 30 minutes each day, that only contributes to less than .02% time of a year (equivalent to 7 days out of 365 days, depressed me too!!!). But hey, it is what it is.
Did I damp your mood too much? I completely understand that you want to ponder over that matter, but you don’t have the time and energy to look what’s going on with yourself. Indeed, everyday life can be busy and you’re running along with time. We all are. (Hey! you are not the only victim of this whirlpool). However, you still can steal a tiny portion of time to nurture your mind, body and spirit. Yes, don’t feel guilty. You can and you deserve.
Prioritizing some time is the best thing you can do for yourself. It’s like a treat you’re giving to yourself. Don’t think of it as a luxury. Feel it like it’s your necessity for your well-being and your family’s as well.
Now without further ado, let’s take a look at what you can do in your own time.
Ways to give yourself some time
Doing Nothing is the best
Unleash your inner self. Let your mind wander.

Is everyday routine getting on your nerves? (Well, of course it is!!) Are lengthy meetings, uninterrupted calls, piles of household chores making you dizzy? And you feel like you can’t keep up with those anymore? Maybe it’s time to hit the pause button for some time.
It’s totally fine to have some alone time for yourself. Switch everything off (your phones, laptop, tv, and any other gadgets that make you busy, you know what we call ‘DIGITAL DETOXICATION’) to be in a perfect tranquil state. Instead of swiping your phone, you can take the best care of yourself. This alone time is going to be your own time where you can take a deep breath, sit quietly, do nothing and let the mind wander (Rolling down the hill, running amok in the beach). Yes, doing nothing has its own charm and you will thank me later that your quite time has gone really well.
Indulge yourself in Retrospection
Look back to make your present and your future better.

In all your time, you are just busy finishing up your works, your responsibilities and your commitments. You might not have time to think back. Well! who wants to look back??? The only thing you know is to look forward and that’s totally fine because we are moving in a fast-paced world where stopping for a bit might seem like we’ve emerged from a long slumber after decades.
Hence, the deal is to think for yourself. There are times when you need to stop- Why did you choose Nursing as your career? (A huge shout out to the caregivers!!). Was there something else you wanted to be? Is everything fine in your life? Do you need to change something? Your alone time might let you reflect on your life decisions, it might provide you the answers you’ve been looking for ages. Who knows what you would stumble upon?
Make a Plan
Life is a mess if you are not organized.

There are thousand things that your mind is filled with. You are swamped with the assignment you have to submit before the deadline. But what about the rent you forgot to pay? (OH!!! you should always be aware of the late fine) Aren’t you supposed to buy a birthday present for your cousin? Didn’t you have a doctor’s appointment yesterday? OH boy!!!! Things are not on track, and you need a break.
Everything works out pretty well when you write it down. You can utilize your alone time to jot all your upcoming events down so that you don’t miss out anything. Making a to-do list and setting reminder on phone would lighten your job. That’s it. Half of your job is done. You are only one step away from a ring.
Yoga for your mind, body and soul
Calm mind equals to calm day and what is better than dipping your toe in the ancient practice to achieve it.

It is of no dispute that you consecrate yourself to take care of your near and dear ones. But, hello!!! what about you? Have you looked into the mirror? what do you see? Let me guess… (Please stop me if I’m wrong) you have dark circles, your face looks pale and tired, your body isn’t in cohesion with your mind. I think I’m going right.
Seeking refuge, huh!!! Meditation is your best way to stay away from all the hustle and bustle that worries you. Yoga, that has been considered as an ancient mental, physical and spiritual practice for the mind, body and spirit, offers an excellent opportunity to relieve stress and anxiety through performing different asanas. You can shove away all the “mortal coil” and connect the physical self with your soul to be a part of the infinite. Yes, Yoga has the power to do that, and you’ll feel amazing after becoming one with the vast Universe. If it sounds like a redemption, don’t wait up!!

Take yourself to a walk
A long barefoot walk to reconnect yourself with nature.

When was the last time you breathed in fresh air? Probably ages ago. (Okay not ages, but months ago). Now is the time to stop procrastinating and do some outside activities. How about a barefoot walk to the woods?? Feel the comfort, the warmth, the beauty of nature that you’ve been missing for months. Research proves that Earthing, that is connecting yourself with the universe, has some benefits in releasing stress and toxins from your body. It can lead you to a healthy and balanced lifestyle. You’ll feel rejuvenated after you incorporate your soul with the outside world.
Find your hobbies
Hobbies are not just a medium of entertainment, they are also your way to keep up your normal routine.

There are things that you like to do to have fun. Well, yeah! You don’t want to sit in front of laptop all the time and let the machine devour your brain. Your hobbies are the lifelines that help keeping up your routine. What are you waiting for? Do whatever you want and make the most of your ‘me time’.
Nobody wants a boring life and I know you don’t too. So, if you haven’t picked up your hobbies yet, here are a bunch of those:
Singing
Dancing
Reading
Writing
Painting
Cooking
Photographing
Crafting
Swimming
Fishing
Hiking
Traveling
Collecting
Chase your dream
Dreams are meant to be fulfilled. Pick up where you left of.

Your hectic life probably prevents you from thinking much about yourself. You’ve stopped following your heart, ignored your little wishes and let yourself go with the flow.
What if you reconsider learning a new language? How would you feel if your dreams of playing piano being fulfilled? Wouldn’t you want to take some time from daily life to chase your dream? All you can do if you are willing to spend time for yourself.
Boost yourself up
Remind yourself of the best version you are.

Everyday life doesn’t get any easier or funnier, rather it leads to a path of exhaustion. You definitely need a way out. You are your best guiding force. Spending some free time makes you feel your inner self and tells you that you are self-sufficient, capable of doing anything.
The time that you afford for yourself is the best invested time. Probably, this is the sole time you can nurture yourself, be a little spoiled (yes, you can be spoiled, sometimes). You don’t always get the chance to live on your own terms. Why not take the advantage and make the most of it?
