How To Set Up Your Affiliate Account in 5 Minutes and Start Earning Big
It’s way easier than it looks and it can be easily profitable. You can actually set it up in 5 minutes and start enjoying the benefits.
I’m talking about the affiliation program.
The concept is super easy:
1- You create an account on an affiliation program
2- You choose what product you want to refer to and create a personal link to it
3- You promote your link and make people click it
4- When someone buys the product from your link, katching, money flows in $$
Easy.
I made $15 per with my first affiliate link
I’ve been in the affiliate program for about 1 month now, and so far with one only link, I’ve made $15. It’s not a lot, I couldn’t live on it, but taking into account the time invested in it (about one hour) it’s not that bad for a new “passive” income.
I was like you, I didn’t believe in it at first, it looked hard to accomplish. I’ve always thought that you needed to have at least 1M followers to make it work. Well, with an email list of only 300 people I had 4 affiliated products that were sold. It was a good start.
How does it sound? Not too hard, right? So if you’re ready, let’s dive into it.
Creating your Affiliate Program Account
The first thing you should ask yourself is what you want to promote. If you’re into computers you’ll have a better shot promoting hardware products rather than shampoos. Why? Because you know them more and probably exchange more about that topic with your peers than the shampoo one.
So first, choose your product(s).
There are a ton of programs that exist out there, nearly every organization or company proposes you to join their program. So once you know what kind of product you want to be affiliated with, then it’s about looking at what organization sells that product and looking for their affiliation program.
A rather easy one is Amazon Affiliation program.
But there are a ton more. This is your first homework.
Choosing the products and creating the links
Once you have your affiliate account you can choose exactly what product you want to share. Now, every platform has its own procedure, but it should be quite straightforward. Once you’ve done it you’ll end up with your personal affiliate link that brings directly to the product you’ve chosen.
Promoting your link
Now that you have your link, it’s all about promoting it. You might want to propose the best product, if no one sees your link and there is not a single click on it, well, nothing is going to happen. And here is where magic operates.
In order to promote your link there are several ways, but the most common are:
- articles
- newsletter
- posts
It’s about sharing with your community the products, reviewing them, talking about them to make them curious, and then, and only then, you share the link. That’s why you’d better choose a product you use or that at least interests you, because you’ll have to talk about it!
First tease, and then share.
Money flows
The principle is simple: when someone buys a product through your link then you receive a percentage of that sale. It can be 1% to 15% or more, depending on your affiliate program.
So let’s say you sell hard drives and Bob buys a $250 hard drive through your affiliate link and with the program you work with you receive 10%: well that’s a good $25 straight to your pocket.
Now, let’s say that Bob talks about that product and brings 10 of his friends to buy one, that is a $250 for you. With just one link.
You can see it can scale pretty fast.
But wait, I don’t want to sell you some fluffy dreams here.
In order to make it work you need to share some valuable information about the affiliated product. Don’t hope that because you share a random link people will buy from it.
No, you have to bring some valuable information, share it, and be honest. If you wouldn't buy the product, why would the other people?
Once again, it’s about marketing, the art of selling.
