How to Ride With Your Feelings By Using Writing
Like a wave, they can come and go.
How do you deal with all the feelings these days? We can be feeling world anxiety and the next minute stressed over handling home office, children, and life itself. We all have it hard these days with Corona coming into our lives like a tornado of unknowingness.
Well, there is one thing we must remember, and it’s that:
“Feelings are just visitors, let them come and go.” — Mooji
So let’s see how to ride with your feelings because just like a wave, they come, they go, and you can learn how to go with the flow:
Become aware of them
“Thoughts come and go. Feelings come and go. Find out what it is that remains.” — Ramana Maharshi
Often, I am overridden with feelings of anxiety that make my head tingle, and I get dizzy. The thoughts of what I am doing, where I am going, make me so confused that I can’t think straight and then fluctuating feelings such as sadness and grief start to set in.
What do I do?
I take a moment to breathe and repeat “Everything is well.”
It makes it easier because I believe in God as well, and he told us not to worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Repeating a mantra and believing in it brings me back to now. This awareness allows me to come back to being mindful and noticing that the present moment is all that matters. So the first thing on how to ride with your feelings is becoming aware of the senses. Then:
Feel them
“Feelings by themselves, do not create problems. It is rather the tendency to analyze and interpret them. When, out of habit, you believe those interpretations, it is there that the suffering begins.” — Mooji
Personally, I am a feeler. Furthermore, I am an empath, so I feel other people’s emotions on another level (sometimes it’s too much). But it’s good to feel because you then get used to what feelings come and go, how they make you feel, and why they are even there in the first place.
Sometimes we don’t want to feel, so we switch to social media or TV to numb our minds, but the only way to ride with your feelings is to handle them and most importantly:
Write them down
Journaling is an effective way to release emotions and feelings that may be lurking around, ready to swallow up your night's sleep or hunger. When I feel my mind is blowing up with so many thoughts and worries, I take a pen and paper and flow with my mind.
Letting your subconscious roll away makes you feel okay. Here’s how:
Let them go
Finally, how to ride with your feelings by using writing is by letting them go physically and mentally. Once you’ve written down your feelings, you will notice that a weight has been lifted. Not only do you start to feel lighter, but you may feel brighter.
I normally experience anxiety early on in the morning or just before I sleep, so that is when I tend to journal. Don’t know how? I got you sorted here:
So there’s how to ride with your feelings by using writing and becoming aware!
Before you go
