Strategies For Women
How To Reinvent Yourself Over The Age Of 50: Take These 5 Steps Now
You can teach an old dog new tricks!

As a woman over 50, you might feel that time is against you and that you have already had the best years of your life. Society has a harsh view of women over 50. Too old to have kids, too old to be glamorous, and lacking use or purpose! But what if society is wrong? What if you can reinvent yourself so that you get a chance to live life on your terms and be the best possible version of you?
It’s time to join the revolution and get with the program. Throw down your apron, paint your toenails, shave your legs and reinvent yourself.
There has never been a better time to be a woman. There has never been a better time to be you! You don’t need to do a Shirley Valentine and fly off to Greece to find the new you or escape your dull routine (although you can if you want to!).
If there is a tiny part of you that is scared about the youth you have lost and what your future will be like, then it’s time to take action.
The first step is to sit down and have a very uncomfortable conversation with yourself! It’s time to get clear on who you want to be.
Do you want to be fitter? Have more money? Improve your relationships? Take some time to think about the new you and who it is you really want to be.
“Charisma can make the world go round - it makes people do what you want them to do.” -Olivia Fox Cabane
Olivia Fox Cabane, best-selling author of The Charisma Myth, states that charismatic people have 2 of these 3 learned traits:
- Power
- Warmth
- Presence
So why not include these traits for the new improved you? You are not born with charisma; you learn it. How much better would your life be if you had irresistible charisma? Why not add a little charisma or personal magnetism to the new you? It’s all in the body language and that can be learned.
Once you have decided upon the new version of yourself. It’s time to take action.
Get A New Inner Coach
“Same thoughts always lead to the same choices, same choices lead to the same behaviour and the same behaviours lead to same experiences and the same experiences produce the same emotions and these emotions drive the very same thoughts.” -Joe Dispenza
If you want to change your life and reinvent yourself. It’s a good idea to change and upgrade your inner voice. You know what I’m talking about. That little voice inside your head. The one that screams at you for messing up or shouts at you for any bad decision you have made.
If you are going to reinvent yourself, it’s a good idea to get a new inner coach that supports you and also gets you moving in the right direction.
Make a decision to be your own best coach. Be supportive, be kind, and be respectful. Of course, if you have the money, then getting a personal growth coach could help you move in the right direction.
Make a plan to change and work on it.
Copy Others
Having made the decision to reinvent yourself and change, you then have to take action.
If there are people that you admire and you want to be more like, take the time to observe what they are doing and how they are doing it. Don’t be afraid to copy. This is not weird behavior!
Humans learn through copying. The web is full of articles on the top habits of successful people, etc. detailed in black and white for everyone to copy. Take the best things you want to copy and put your own twist on them.
Hang Out With People That Inspire You
When you make the decision to reinvent yourself, you may find that you need a new circle of friends. This is for two reasons. First, most people don’t like change. If you are changing but your friends aren’t, this may cause resentment or at the very least make them feel uncomfortable around you.
Second, you may just find that your old friends aren’t the right fit for the new you. If your old friends only want to go for a walk around the park and the new you want to go climb a mountain, then you need to get yourself, new friends. It’s not selfish to want to follow your dreams.
Be Bold & Take Action
Make the decision to change and take action. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small step or a giant step. Just move forward and out of your safety bubble. Want to meet new people and try new things? Sign up for as many free clubs in your local areas as possible. Want to get fit but don’t like gyms? Go to your nearest dog shelter and volunteer to take the dogs for a walk. Feeling worthless and useless? Go and volunteer.
The world is full of opportunities. All you have to do is open your eyes, see them, and take action.
