How To Get Sh*t Done Even With Procrastination Traits

As you’re reading this article, you can flick back to a time whereby you had a plan to achieve something and you got distracted by something so minor right? It all goes back to how the brain works and If you actually wanted to do the thing you procrastinated to do in the first place.

Many have said that procrastination is based on trying to achieve something by a particular time but due to time management causes delays which could be hours, days, months, and even years.

Why do we procrastinate in the first place?

In my opinion, procrastination happens not with time, but instead with emotions. It all comes down to how you’re is feeling beforehand and you really want to do the thing you’ve said you’d do. This all leads to people delaying time on what’s needed to be done and results in them procrastinating.

A daily journal will be the key to your success

In the past, my experience with keeping on track with stuff I didn’t want to do nor felt in the right mood to do it kept delaying because I wasn’t organised. I felt that If I was going to at least help myself complete the tasks ahead, I should set a specific time slot for each so I wouldn’t get distracted easily.

In staying consistent, I will outline a few ideas I initiated that helped me get sh*t done.

  • Exercise — Regular routines of exercise gave me the brain space I needed. Exercise improves mood and sleep, and reduces stress and anxiety
  • Night Journal — I call this a night journal because I spent time before I went to bed to go over what I accomplished and what I need to do the following day.
  • Clear Space — Weather you aim to create a website, clean your garage or read a book, a clear space is helpful. A study was taken that not being in a comfortable environment may cause you to procrastinate.

In conclusion, I believe that being in a better state physically and mentally will have a benefit to your emotions. This will allow you to continue to procrastinate but at a less likely rate which will ultimately lead you to success.
