How To Overcome Addictions

The first step is to accept that you have a problem

These steps are my guide based on my personal experience.

And my summary of experiences has all levels of alcoholism and drug addiction. From hidden to casual and social, all the way to homelessness. And all because I wanted to be floating in space under the influence of substances for eternity.

But everything has an end.

I live to be grateful that I found the light at the end of the tunnel that enlightened me to find the path to freedom.

I have written this to map my recovery and remind myself how difficult the road has been.

When you accept the situation, you are taking a step toward acceptance that there is something in your life that you can’t control and that you need help.

You can apply different methods and systems, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Rehabilitation Centers, and recovering inmates.

But you need most to have the internal desire to overcome your situation.

Please take it as something severe because your life is the one at stake. Give yourself a lot of patience, but remember that you must be very strict with yourself.

Begin by taking responsibility for your actions

Respect yourself enough to keep your focus on your goal. Stop making up more sad stories and lies about why you reached that low level. It doesn’t matter anymore.

Stop playing the victim and take responsibility.

Suppose something negatively affects your life, thoughts, emotions, behavior, reactions, performance, success, and habits. In that case, it is a potential problem that requires all your attention, and you need to start being honest with yourself about it.

You cannot ignore it or let it go unnoticed.

It requires immediate attention and immediate decisions — fix it or remove it.

Don’t let your ego or your inner childhood control your decisions. Start by being grateful for what you have. You have a breath of life that gives you the time to regain control of your life.

Addictions destroy physically and mentally.

A Therapist can be a good company for your recovery process. Or you can also look for a person you can trust at all times.

Someone you can call at all times if you feel weakness, anxiety, or confusion of feelings.

Change your environment.

A new atmosphere refreshes your mind and gives birth to new habits.

Leave that person inside you who wants to be comfortable and lazy, and don’t be afraid of the pain of moving away from all the things, people, and places that divert you from your purpose.

In the beginning, it will be challenging, but over time, the more battles you win daily, the more your confidence and self-esteem will grow.

Above all, encourage yourself.

The best gift God has given you is your mind. Please protect it from all negative thinking.

And above all, hold on to the Highest Power to help you get to know the right people to support you.
