How to Minimize Costs When Travelling (Part 2 of 2)
I couldn’t limit my notes to minimizing costs when travelling to just one post — https://medium.com/@liam.jamesh/how-to-minimize-costs-when-travelling-part-1-of-2-ab6db8da9a7c
So, here are some additional tips:
Pack light
The less luggage you have, the less you’ll have to pay in baggage fees. Go minimal and choose quality over quantity when it comes to clothing.
Bring your own water bottle and snacks
This will save you money on food and drinks while you’re travelling.
Drinking a lot of water to stay hydrated is a must in many countries and buying water bottles of water can slowly add up, so be prepared.
Take advantage of student discounts and travel passes
There are several discounts and passes available for students and other travellers. A quick Google search will bring up what is relevant to you.
Use travel credit cards
Travel credit cards can offer rewards such as points that can be redeemed for flights, accommodation, and other travel expenses. I have friends that travel business class entirely from the points they make from using their credit cards.
Be flexible
If you’re flexible with your plans, you’re more likely to find good deals. For example, if you’re willing to travel on a weekday instead of a weekend, you may be able to find cheaper flights and accommodation.
By following these tips, you can minimize your costs when travelling and still have a brilliant time.
Happy travels!
