How to make money on Pinterest without followers
The beginner-friendly way to start

Did you know you can make money on Pinterest with no followers? This is one of the few platforms that work this way.
It’s because Pinterest is a visual search engine. You can attract an audience to your account through your actions and activity without having to bother with trying to grow your followers.
Most of your viewers are probably not going to follow you but, they’ll collect your Pinterest pins and take action. That’s my personal opinion, any way.
Here’s how it works…
How to make money with Pinterest — no followers required
There’s this little metric…

It’s called monthly views.
This measures the monthly views your pins are getting. My seasoned Pinterest account for my personal blog Millennial Nextdoor gets around 250,000 monthly views and was receiving over 4.8 million monthly viewers at it’s peak!
You have to have a Pinterest business account to see this number, which is what I recommend for making money on Pinterest.
- It’s a free business account
- You get access to additional tools including analytics and ads
- You can see your monthly views number
The higher your monthly views are, the more people are seeing your Pinterest pins.
These aren’t just pins you’re creating and posting to the platform. They are pins you are reposting too!

Here they are…
- Pinterest affiliate marketing
- Sell products
- Sell services
- Brand deals
- Participate in creator programs
What is Pinterest affiliate marketing?
Pinterest affiliate marketing: Refer affiliate products on Pinterest and earn a commission when a purchase results from your referral.
For example, you might refer a recurring subscription Instacart that pays you $5/month for each month your customer pays for their subscription.
Refer 20 customers in a month and make $100/month in recurring commission ($5/month recurring commission X 20 customers).

How do you sell products and services on Pinterest?
Sell products: Promote your physical or digital products on Pinterest to make money. You can even get merchant-verified and sell directly on the platform!
Sell services: Promote your services. You can also do things like run ads to create awareness and attract an audience for your services.
How to make money with Pinterest brand deals?
Brand deals: Partner with brands that pay you to pin for them! I was recently offered $500/month for 30 pins created for a company!
What Pinterest creator programs are available?
Pinterest creator programs: The Pinterest Creator Rewards program ended at the end of 2021. It earned me nearly $40K.
Since then, though there hasn’t been a replacement for that program, there have been opportunities to participate in campaigns to make money from your Pinterest pins.
And, more creator programs may emerge in the future!
The 4-Step Process to Start Making Money on Pinterest
This is the quick and simple way to start making money on Pinterest …
- Get a Pinterest account (it should be a Business account)
- Create your profile (add a bio photo, write a description, insert a website, if applicable, etc.)
- Be active (pin, follow others, comment, etc.)
The key to success is in the activity. Get on Pinterest everyday if you can. It only takes a few minutes to pin a dozen or so Pinterest pins.
You can create them easily in Canva, too.
