16 Money Affirmations to Gain Financial Abundance

Have you ever wondered what financial abundance is like?

Having extra money in the bank, being able to pay your debt, traveling whenever you want, having the ability to go on holidays with your family without worrying about breaking the bank.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting more money. Money makes living life more enjoyable. It also gives you the ability to make the lives of the people around you better.

If there’s one underrated technique to make money, it has to be using money affirmations.

Some people call it “woo woo”. Reciting the words every day won’t make you financially abundant (especially if you don’t pair it with hard work). It’s a fair criticism.

But what if it does?

And what if the reason it doesn’t work for you is you’ve been doing it all wrong?

Do money affirmations work?

Are money affirmations scientifically proven?

There is ample research to validate that affirmations, whether they’re about money, health, or career success, work.

But I’m not here to bore you with scientific research. I like to look more at the evidence. If someone has shown that they’ve used money affirmations to gain more financial abundance than we could ever dream of, then I’m sold.

I can think of two people, both of whom I hope to become like one day: entrepreneurs Jack Canfield and T. Harv Eker.

Both of them have written in their books that money affirmations is one of the techniques they use to make money. Honestly, I don’t need scientific data to tell me affirmations work. If these two say it works, then it works. Their net worth is the proof.

If I want financial abundance like these two, then I’m going to practice my money affirmations like them.

Money affirmations don’t work like magic, though. Hard work, patience, and skills (among others) are always required to make money.

However, money affirmations help you access your most powerful tool and use it to your advantage: your mind.

What are money mantras?

Money mantras are a combination of words that help create a positive effect. In Sanskrit, ‘man’ means ‘mind’ and tra means ‘freeing’. It’s supposed to help free your mind and tap into its immense power. It’s a powerful tool to accomplish your objectives.

You are what you think and what you say you are. Your self-image affects the actions that you take and the actions that you take affects the results you get.

To sum things up, it looks something like this:

Thoughts — →Feelings — →Actions — →Results

If you want to make more money, you have to believe first that you can do it. Money affirmations change our mindset from a can’t mindset to a mindset of possibility.

You’re reprogramming your subconscious mind, making it your ally, and ultimately tapping into its power. In fact, repeating your mantras over and over helps you to filter the information you need to manifest what your mind is always thinking of.

However, if you find that you’ve always failed each time you tried to make money despite practicing your money mantras, or if you lost your money after you made a ton of it, then there might be something else that’s holding you back.

Which brings me to…

Limiting beliefs

How many of you have heard these while growing up?

Money doesn’t grow on trees

It’s very hard to earn money

Rich people are greedy

Rich people prey on the poor

If I get rich, bad things might happen to me

Rich people are evil

Money is the root of all evil

I don’t deserve to earn more money

If I earn more money, then I’ll just be like those evil rich people

You should only use money for the essential things

Save for the rainy days

These are examples of negative money mantras that limit your money-earning potential and compel you to lose the money you make. Whenever you have limiting beliefs like these, it’s like driving your car while the handbrakes are one. You’re holding yourself back.

The best way to move forward is not to step harder on the gas, but to release the handbrakes.

Decades of negative conditioning about money will take some time to undo, which is why it’s important to give money affirmations some time before you see the results. It might take months, maybe even years.

But let me give you a personal example of how affirmations worked for me.

How I stumbled onto the power of money affirmations

Are you wondering where I got this powerful belief on affirmations?

Here’s a short story.

Photo by Cathryn Lavery on Unsplash

I write my to-do list in a notebook every day. Long story short, I wrote the wrong date in my notebook one day. I wrote April 17 instead of August 17. I wrote the wrong date daily for ten days and on August 26, I greeted my sister with a happy birthday (her birthday was on April 26).

What does this mean?

I didn’t understand at first, but when I reviewed my notebook, I saw the mistake and processed what had happened. Did writing the wrong date every day convince me that it was April even though it was August?

But the most important of all, I learned that by affirming every day that it was April, I took action and greeted my sister a happy birthday even though it was August.

A crazy idea was born. Why don’t I use this to make money and gain financial abundance?

What if I could convince myself that I am earning $8000 from my writing so I would take action and eventually start earning $8000?

Let’s find out.

How to make money affirmations work

There must be a cheat sheet on how to make money affirmations work, right?

Well, thank God for Jack Canfield. According to his book, there are nine guidelines on how to create effective affirmations. They have to:

  1. Start with the word “I”
  2. Use the present tense
  3. State it in the positive
  4. Keep it brief
  5. Make it specific
  6. Include an action word ending with -ing
  7. Include one dynamic emotion or feeling word
  8. Make affirmations for yourself and not for others
  9. Add, Or something better

You’re supposed to review the affirmations three times a day. The best times are in the morning, in the middle of the day, and just before you go to sleep.

Read the affirmations out loud instead of just going through the motions.

Close your eyes and visualize yourself as the affirmations describe.

Hear any sounds, and feel the emotions you’ll feel when your affirmations come true.

Repeat the process every day.

You can also write your affirmations on an index card that you can carry with you so you can look at it anytime.

You can record your affirmations and listen to them (for auditory learners).

Hang pictures around your house or use your affirmations as a screensaver on your phone (visual learners).

And lastly, if you’re a kinetic learner like me, you can write your affirmations every single day.

What happened 90 days after I started my money affirmations?

Did I make $8,000???

Honestly, I didn’t follow all of the nine steps listed above. I followed some, but not all. My affirmation was simple:

“I’m making $8,000 each month from my writing”.

That’s it.

I wrote it every single day for 90 days. And the result?

Did money affirmations work for me? It depends on perspective.

On the one hand, you can say that it didn’t work. I was $2893 short of my goal.

On the other hand, holy F@¥$!

I’ve never made that much money outside of my work ever! And if you combine it with the income from my day job (which is a laughable $2000), I earned over $7,100 for that month, which is also the most money I made in a month. Ever.

Not bad for a “newbie” writer who speaks English as a second language (most of the money came from two posts I wrote that ranked on the first and second page of Google for their keywords).

Something also tells me that this is just the beginning and that I’ll eventually hit my target of $8,000 for a month. It will only be a matter of time (which is why you have to be patient and keep working and keep doing the affirmations).
