"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."

—Mahatma Gandhi

Life is a short journey to live happily. I agree that life can be difficult, but we cannot run away from it. We must nevertheless live it. So why do it sadly?

Even though we all know that life is full of suffering, difficulties, obstacles, battles, and hardships, we all desire to avoid them. Life will inevitably bring about health crises, financial difficulties, and interpersonal problems. Bad things happen whether or not you want them to, and that is the harsh reality of life.

I have experienced difficult times in my life and have felt that life is unfair to me since I do not deserve these things. Everybody experiences unfairness in life and believes that they do not deserve it. But this is how the cosmos functions. You can’t expect the world to treat you fairly.

“Life is not fair, get used to it.” -Bill Gates

You can’t assume that everyone and everything in your life will be fair just because it won’t be. So instead of wasting time playing the blame game, learn to deal with whatever comes your way.

Conversely, life’s happiness does not occur. Good things do not just appear in life. You have to make it happen. There is no trick to making good things happen in your life. One realization stands out: “You have to make the things in your life happen that you genuinely desire.”

For instance, you won’t be able to acquire millions of dollars in your bank account by simply sitting and daydreaming about it. To get what you want, you must work hard and put forth the necessary effort.

Nothing in life is fair, unlike in a fairy tale. However, if you put in enough effort to create positive changes in your life, it may be amazing. So, in life, don’t wait for the ideal time to start pursuing your goals. Now is the time to start exercising if you want to be fit. This is the time to focus on your studies if you want to get good scores. Keep striving towards your goals.

To sum up, choose happiness if you want to live a happy life. Do not be concerned if life is too challenging. Live your dreams and relieve yourself from the weight of life by spending time doing so. The journey of life is to live happily. Decide how you want to live it, then do it.

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -Mark Twain
