Summary

The article outlines a method for generating multiple article ideas from a single personal story to sustain content creation and overcome writer's block.

Abstract

The author of the article emphasizes the importance of leveraging personal narratives to create diverse content, revealing that 70% of their own extensive writing is derived from just three core stories. The guide proposes a three-step process: first, identify three significant personal narratives; second, formulate questions that each narrative addresses, which can be transformed into article headlines; and third, blend these narratives with various niches to expand the range of potential topics. The author illustrates this approach with examples, showing how a single story about overcoming toxic friendships can lead to at least six distinct article ideas. This method is presented as a solution to the challenge many writers face in their first three months of creating content, aiming to prevent them from quitting due to a lack of ideas, which in turn affects their income.

How to Make 6+ Article Ideas With 1 Personal Story

This can give you endless content.

I’ve written almost 800 articles and dozens of Twitter threads online in just 2 years.

70% of it is the same story reused in different ways.

Most writers quit in their first 3 months because they struggle to think of new content ideas. No content ideas mean no production which also means no moola.

Here’s a 3-step guide that can teach you how to make 6+ articles with just 1 story.

Step 1: Write Down 3 Personal Narratives

These are stories that have molded you into the person you are today.

E.g. “I got rid of my toxic friends and this helped me become more self-aware of my friendships.”

I have 3 core narratives that 70% of my writing is about:

  • I got out of a 5+ year toxic friend group
  • I wrote every day online for a year and I achieved success
  • I almost died from bad appendicitis

Write down 3 of your core narratives so you have a foundation to start from.

Step 2: Think of Questions Each Personal Narrative Answers

Let’s use our previous example: “I got rid of my toxic friends and this helped me become more self-aware of my friendships.”

Here are some questions:

  • How can this help others get out of their toxic friendships?
  • What are the signs that tell you a friendship is toxic?
  • How do you recover from toxic friendships?

Your headline ideas come from those specific questions.

E.g. “10 Huge Signs of a Toxic Friendship”

But wait…there’s more.

Step 3: Mix Different Niches Into Your Questions

Let’s use the questions we got from step 2.

Let’s combine this niche (friendships/relationships) with writing.

Here are some of our new questions:

  • How can toxic friendship experiences impact your writing?
  • Can daily journaling help you recover from toxic friendships?
  • Can toxic friendships help your writing habit?

Headline Idea: “5 Ways Daily Journaling Can Help You Recover From Toxic Friendships”

You can always spice up the headline even more, but that’s for another article.

You get the gist.

Final Thought

Notice how I didn’t go further into a third niche to come up with 9 potential article ideas.

With just 1 story, we came up with 6 different article ideas. This will become a never-ending pot of article ideas if you can add more niches to the mix.

Also, you never stop experiencing new things. You can add more stories over time.

So what are you waiting for?

Come up with your core narratives and start now.
