Why you should never wait for better days

Spoke to my brother this morning, he wants to take up surfing.

It explains the “you should go to Názare” WhatsApp message and a Spotify surf playlist he sent me in the past week.

Nazáre is where the huge waves are.

My brother said something to me that inspired me to write. He said,

“Te min geleef”, meaning “haven’t lived enough”.

For me, this is the saddest thing.

Even my mother said something similar to me when I was still living at home. I asked her if she has any regrets and she said she wished she had enjoyed more of her youth before getting married and moving to the farm.

Perhaps that is why it carries so much weight for me.

Probably one of my biggest fears is not using my time on this earth to the best of my ability.

… not doing all I can to add to the experience of Consciousness evolution.

I see this life as a privilege.

A gift…and I want to show my gratitude by honoring this experience called life.

I never want to say that I didn’t live to the fullest. The times when I do feel that I am straying off — truly saddens me.

Perhaps you will understand if you read this:

I am living in Portugal for almost three years now.

I came here because I wanted to learn to surf, same as my brother who had just read Matthew McConaughey’s book, Greenlights.

There’s something about the thought of surfing and freedom that attracts people.

After my Breatharian initiation which I did in Tarifa, Spain, I decided to tick surfing off my bucket list.

I came to Portugal on a one-month surf holiday, then decided to stay as Covid also hit not long after.

I did not pursue the sport.

It was not for me.

I devoted a full month to it, I put my heart into it and that is why I have no regret.

Reasons for not pursuing:

  1. It is VERY time-consuming and I have other things I prefer to spend my time on.
  2. I am an excellent swimmer yet felt unsafe with the big board in the ocean. I am not scared of the ocean, I sailed across the Atlantic, yet I felt unsafe whilst surfing.
  3. I saw many surfer girls looking haggard from the sun and I did not feel comfortable hanging out in the sun day in and day out.

I traveled my heart out from age 18.

Over 35 countries and not short visits, either. I took time to ENJOY.

I created unique experiences combined with working a variety of interesting jobs, for enrichment and quick money.

Tim Ferriss’ 4-hour workweek appealed to me. I read it in my early 20s.

Mini-retirements throughout one's life became MY lifestyle.

When you want to do something, when you have dreams, the only way to actually understand and be able to extract from those experiences the necessary information pertaining to one’s growth, one have to take action on them.

I wanted to be a surfer and now I am not.

Some might view this as a failure. Some might view it as not reaching a goal.

The important part is that I did fulfill that dream. I pursued it and extracted from it all the knowledge I needed at that time to come to an even greater understanding of what I prefer in my life.

A greater understanding of who I am and what I am capable of.

Yet I would have never known that if I never tried.

Conclusion — How to live with no regret

🌀 Our heart knows what we yearn for. Our heart knows where our highest excitement lies. Clear your mind, keep your energy positive and you will receive the clues of what to do and where to go.

🌀 Do not judge the path of your highest excitement. It might not fit in with your ‘perfect plan’, yet we are here to fulfil our soul blueprint, not some made up personality by us or by others.

🌀 Every second is precious. Yes you have heard this a million times before, yet live in awe of this. Live with gratitude for this. The meaning of your life is the meaning you give it. Give it the admiration it deserves and your life will be full of miracles.

🌀 Living without regret is not about living a perfect life, making all the perceived ‘right’ choices. Living without regret means that you got to LIVE. How many times did you want to do something and you ended up not doing it? You ended up choosing the safe option. Now you will never know. Oh my goodness I have made so many ‘mistakes’, I have done quite a number of silly things, yet I don’t regret it because it made me rich with experience, rich with knowing what I like and what I don’t like, rich with acceptance of all.

🌀 Honour your soul blueprint. It is unique to you. Go in the direction you are called.
