Falling in love is always exciting, even if it is in a mental clinic like me! I was falling for someone big time and didn’t know if they liked me back. What is harder is when you are an introvert and have no idea how to tell the difference between hey and hi.

I have come to realize the little things that make you notice how someone likes you. It may be hard to trust in the signs, but here’s how to know someone likes you.

When I first started liking this guy in the clinic, I knew straight away that he might like me back too. We would go outside for a cigarette together and pull our chairs closer together, just like it was normal. From thereon, whenever we sat together, it was very open and casual — our knees would touch sometimes, and it would be a sign of closeness. Then me (pretty flirty) would touch him now and again if he would tease me.

When the moments would be quiet and still (not awkward), then I would let my body speak for me and maybe cozy up to him because:

So one of the first things that attracted me to this guy in the clinic was the way he was so kind towards me without thinking twice. He would open the door for me or pull my chair out or wait until I got up after dinner to follow me. These little acts of kindness may be telling you one big thing: they like you.

Ok, so maybe people are just kind, but more so when they want to make an impression on you. List out the little things and become aware of how they are kind to you because this may mean they like you more than just a friend…

I knew this straight away. We would catch each other looking into one another’s eyes and then flutter away. I know it sounds cheesy(!), but the look in someone’s eyes is one of the biggest giveaways if someone likes you. Notice if their eyes glisten or glow when catching eyes with you or if they stare deeply at you now and then. Either way, when I became aware of the way this guy looked at me, the more butterflies I got and the more confidence I got that he likes me.
