How To: Ground Your Energy 101

There are many ways to ground. While cutting cords that don’t serve and tuning into mine is one of my favourite ways to clear and ground,I have also found a super basic, simple, and mindful way to ground out my energy if I ever have a current moving through me that throws me a little further than I’d like.
This is a beginner-proof way to ensure your energy is bright and beautiful all day long. It can be done sitting, standing, or lying down. Just get comfy (essentially)! You can do it on the move, but I don’t recommend it until you know what sensations you’re looking for. I do it on meditative walks or when I get up from my desk while I write, for example. Give yourself permission to take a second to melt into yourself. This method takes between 1 and 5 minutes or longer if you plan on meditating and spending more time with each individual step.

Before we start, I’d like to bring spiritual attention to those who don’t use it consciously or know of their own power. By invoking your spirit team or other high-vibrational beings of light, you may protect yourself throughout the day. I visualize purple flames engulfing me or white, gold, green, pink, and purple light surrounding me. These are ongoing protections that I have worked to put into place over my spiritual journey, as they do require ‘maintenance’ within.
Try it out sometime!
- Ask for only what serves you to find you and to send the rest back to its sender. You could ask for protection throughout the day. Whatever you feel is aligned with you is what’s meant to find you.
- You can envision a ball of bright white light, filled with unconditional love and protection, above your head. Trace your body three times at your own pace. Inhale and soak up that energy. Then let it flow outward naturally to embrace it in your energetic body and aura.
End every prayer session with ‘amen’, or ‘and so it is done’. I say the word ‘Ase’. It is up to the personalization of the individual. I say it a few times throughout my sessions of manifestation. I also tend to express my gratitude as well. Words are power, so be mindful.

Grounding 101
This is a simple re-grounding technique. Do it for as long as needed. Narrowing down the shift to reground can take practice, so don’t be alarmed if it takes a second to get used to it.
- Stretch it out! Move your body in any way you need to. I love this step. I tend to add it throughout the process. I find that moving energy in this simple way alone is enough to ground. Let your body lead your stretch.
- Take some deep breaths and relax into your body. I tend to do so until I feel myself shift into my inner calm. It is a recognizable stillness.
- How do you feel? Scan yourself from head to toe, “listening” for any sensation that comes up. What can it tell you? Depending on your connection to self, you might get downloads, memories, telepathic whispers, etcetera to help release whatever’s there. Sometimes it’s a nice reminder that ends up being super relevant later on.
- Tuning into the outer world, what are your senses picking up? What do you hear? What do you smell? Taste? Feel? (Touch/sensory) See? Take on the senses in an explorative discovery. What’s around you? How can you anchor the present moment? I always find one or two surprises about what my present moment actually involves. It creates beauty on this plane of existence.
- Take some deeper breaths and stretch it out again before returning to your day. Feel free to repeat this or go back to the ones you wish to spend more time with. Feel free to narrow your focus to specifics that help you! Our personal spiritual practices grow and evolve over time to suit our needs. Explore!

Grounding is a major part of the journey, whether it be in your emotional, mental, physical, or spiritual body, your mind or your heart, or any path you choose to take. It is a staple of the twin flame journey, the lightworker and healer paths, and the calming of the nervous system before the conscious path even starts. It is not one size fits all. There are many techniques that I have learned that don’t work as well as others, while others I have grown to appreciate over the course of my own journeys. There are many paths home, and only you truly know your intuitive compass.
All the best on your path!
