How to Go from Niche Writer to Self Published Author in No Time!

Do you have a series of stories that focus on one theme or topic?

Are you a writer on Medium who has been writing for a while? Maybe you’ve even been writing articles other places online also.

You probably have lots of non-fiction stories, on a variety of topics, right?

If that sounds like you, then chances are, all those stories and researched articles on one theme or topic, just might be enough to organize and publish a book.

From my own experience as a self-published ebook author, having lots of well written stories on a specific topic is a great way to actually write and publish your very first ebook.

Allow me to share how I was able to do this many years ago, without any previous knowledge.

One ebook led to the next and the next, and gradually, I began to learn all about self publishing in the digital world.

Honestly, I didn’t even plan it that way. It just happened…

I love writing fiction but I cut my teeth on reality

Ever since I recently launched my Exposure Newsletter, as an extension to my Daily Justiss publication, I’ve been talking about nothing but other writers on Medium, who love to write fiction.

I’m even compiling my own directory of rising fiction stars on Medium.

The Exposure Newsletter has a completely separate layout and front page of its own, and it’s accessible by clicking the Newsletter link at the top of Daily Justiss. When you do, you end up on a featured page that looks like this:

This newest endeavor of mine has really taken off, and I even anticipate a coming book release in July, as a direct result of Exposure.

NOTE: Feel free to subscribe to the weekly Exposure email bulletins.

You can keep up with what’s happening on a regular basis.

From this point forward, I’ve vowed to do all that I can, to help new and existing fiction writers and authors, and to shine as much light on fiction writing as possible.

But as much as I love writing fiction, and those like me who write it, I can’t ever deny that it was non-fiction that I was able to cut my writing teeth on.

Once upon a time, everything I wrote was rooted in reality, and very few of my words had anything to do with imagination.

My love for writing fiction has always been my deepest passion, but thanks to all that non-fiction writing, my dream to be an author was finally fulfilled.

I was writing for a niche without even knowing it

Let me state for the record, there are lots of veteran writers on Medium (and other platforms) who don’t recommend new writers concentrate on a niche.

What I’m conveying about niche writing in this story is not to debate the issue one way or another. It’s merely to share what happened to me, as a result of having written for a particular niche.

The niche in question was: TRAVEL

You can read all about how my ebook publishing activities that year was the beginning of my journey as a book author and not simply a writer.

The most recent Medium story on exactly what I did, and how anyone can duplicate my methods, is called: Simple Steps to Writing, Publishing, and Selling an eBook!

As the story indicates, I learned a quick and easy method that I could perform over and over.

Here are three examples of the results of my efforts:

Final Thoughts

As you can see, based on my personal experience and what happened to me, you may already be a lot closer to self publishing your first ebook than you realize.

Look over the material again, but this time, put your thinking cap on when you do. Think about the stories you’ve already published here on Medium or in other places online.

  • Do you have multiple stories on one topic?
  • Are your stories researched, accurate, and still relevant?
  • Is it time you finally got serious about publishing your first book?

If you answered yes to all three questions above, than the only other question you need to consider is this:

Has your stories already received wide distribution, and require too many modifications, or can you give them a few tweaks, and start the self publishing process today?

You might just be surprised at the answer you come up with.

To help some of you timid writers out there get a sense of what I’m talking about, I just compiled a few stories over the past week, and put together the following book, which is now on sale on Amazon:
