How To Get Smarter By Doing Less
Take time for yourself

The best investment I ever made is when I invested in myself.
I am in a state of constant learning. Many different topics interest me, and the internet is a fabulous source of information.
But sometimes, I get in over my head. I know it’s time to step back and do less.
Give yourself a time out
When you’re pulled in too many directions, it’s difficult to make a choice. If you want to invest in yourself, listen to your inner voice.
Slow down and get in touch with yourself. Give yourself a time out, and go outside.
- Time spent outside can recharge you. (leave your phone turned off)
- Go for regular walks
- Get enough sleep
- Sit quietly and listen to your intuition
Brainstorm learning opportunities
- Check the local college for courses that relate to your employment.
- Search online for free courses.
- Ask your employer if there are any courses or certificates that they would recommend.
- Read a book.
Explore other interests
- Try a workshop or class that isn’t related to your job.
- Learn a language.
- Take a painting class.
- Learn how to cook.
- Check your local recreation center for courses that interest you.
When you find something that interests you, don’t hesitate to jump in.
Investing in yourself will pay off as you will feel more fulfilled. You will be more adaptable to changes in the workplace and in the world. And you may be surprised at what you choose to do.
There is a chance to learn in every experience. Open yourself to the possibilities and become a new version of yourself.
