How to Get Rejected by Medium Publications

Why are publications so elitist and arrogant? 7 best ways to find out

Like being rejected? Try these:

  • Never ever read publication guidelines. These ‘submission rules’ are long lists of requirements people wrote for some funny reason. Who cares anyway? Let editors figure out if their publication deserves your writing.
  • Publish your story before you add it to a publication. No reason to check if this publication accepts published stories.
  • Don’t bother writing yourself. You can always put together some information you googled or take someone’s story. Who would ever check this?
  • Disallow private notes. Make sure editors try a few times to figure out they can’t send you a feedback note
  • Spell checking is for losers. Who would need a free Grammarly plugin?
  • Never credit your images. Let editors guess if you have the right to use them.
  • You are the ultimate source of all facts and numbers. If you say that 63% of Americans only spend 12 minutes a day standing, who would doubt that?
