How to Get Out Of Bed Every Morning to Feel More Alive

Can’t get out of bed? This isn’t hard to do

First things first: This isn’t going to be a habit breaker and tell you to wake up at 5 am to do sports, meditation, run for an hour. No, it’s going to be simple. Being in a mental clinic and suffering from depression for the past few months, I know how hard it can be to get out of bed, so these few tips will help you a lot, trust me.

Here’s 1 thing to do every morning to feel more alive because:

“We cannot put off living before until we are ready” — Jose Gortega

Give yourself time to wake up

Most people wake up and are alert straight away. Research shows the average person takes 15 minutes to be awake, alert, alive. It can take up to four hours (we all have that friend who takes forever to be a full functioning human!).

For me, it’s probably around twenty minutes, now that I am feeling better. When I had depression in the mental clinic a few weeks back, I couldn’t get out of bed. I physically felt like I was stuck in bed with glue and didn’t know what to do. I pressured myself too much to be already awake that is stinted me to the point of being stuck in bed. So here’s your one tip already:

Don’t pressure yourself to get up; just go with the flow, and give yourself time to wake up — enjoy the process! Next:

Go to the toilet

Let’s face it: Most of us want to go to the toilet when waking up if not all of us! This might be the one thing that actually gets you out of bed (it has been for me many times!). Ever wondered why you need to pee during the night and first thing? Here’s why:

“It’s your body’s way of balancing the amount of water in your blood to keep you functioning normally” — Gesinger.org

So do yourself a favour and go to the toilet when you wake up, then stay out of bed — this was my struggle for a while. Last but definitely not least, the one thing to do every morning to feel more alive is:

Drink that one-litre of water

As soon as you get up, drink one litre of water — you heard me correctly! Once you do this, you will start to cheat your body, and you will feel very thirsty when waking up that you will have to wake up and drink something. Not only this, but you will feel fresh! Start to wake up in the morning and feel brighter and lighter by drinking water. Then let me know your thoughts — I am curious to hear!

So the three things to do in the morning (in this order!) are to give yourself time to wake up, go to the toilet, then drink that water like your life depends on it.

Before you go
