How to optimize your morning routine

William Blake said: “Think in the morning, act at midday, read in the evening, and sleep at night”.

W hat is the first thing you do in the morning when you wake up? Are you checking your phone? Worried about yesterday’s problems? Or do you think with horror about everything you have to do today?

A good routine immediately after you wake up, it can transform your whole day in more productive and beautiful.

You don’t have to do anything too complicated. You need to be a little more careful about how you react when you wake up and make some adjustments to your morning routine.

I kept thinking about some ideas on how to optimize your morning routine. Just a few things you can take in your own schedule:

  1. Maybe you tend to turn off the clock after it rings, and go back to bed. The simplest solution I found was to put the watch in another room. As far away from me as possible. Far enough to hear him.

2. Pay attention to what you eat the night before. This will help or make it harder in the morning when you need to wake up.

3. Make your bed. If you make your bed after you wake up, your brain, half asleep, will receive the signal that the day has begun. A simple activity also means a state of calm, which means less stress for the whole day.

4. Hydrate yourself. When it comes to morning habits that need to be found in your routine, hydration is among the most important. Try to drink at least a glass of water after you wake up, and this will give your body an energy boost.

5. Have breakfast. One of the most important elements of your morning routine is breakfast. Your day will have a completely different shape and structure if you don’t skip the first meal of the day. For example, if you do not eat breakfast your body will lose calories much harder because it will retain the energy it needs. Also, if you eat in the morning you will have a more moderate diet because you will no longer feel the need to eat so much at lunch and in the evening. If you catch lunch saying “I didn’t eat anything today” you need to review your morning routine and make sure you make time for breakfast!

6. Set aside your time for your development. Morning is for most people the most effective time of day. Set aside time now for your development and evolution. Read good books, watch inspirational videos, or find other ways to grow.

7. Get moving. The list of things to do in the morning should include a few minutes of exercise. For example, to run for 20–30 minutes or if you have a dog you can take him for a walk. You can also do a short exercise session right at home.

8. What you do in the morning sets the context of the day. If you want to have a productive day, I recommend you start the morning with an attitude that encourages this. In other words, the way you start your day, that’s how you will have it. This is one of the reasons why the morning routine is essential in personal development and time management. It’s hard to be productive all day unless you start your day productively. Learn to develop in yourself the attitude of personal productivity, that “get the things done”. For this, learn to motivate yourself, to look for those inner motivational elements.

9. Avoid email in the first hour. Eventually a quick post on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and start what you do in the morning. Otherwise, you will waste your precious time in the morning on Facebook stories.

10. I also make my day’s schedule in the morning, I choose the tasks I will take care of. I’d better do this the night before, I still haven’t gotten into this habit. No matter when you do it, don’t forget to set your most important task of the day.

11. Observe your behavior in the morning. How do you use your time? Do you see that it brings you concrete, long-term results? Or is it just a time to do things? Get used to periodically reviewing (monthly should be enough) your morning routine. Always optimize, add new elements, give up elements that you do not feel bring you concrete benefits.
