A simple habit
How to get 6–8 hours of sleep
6 easy steps

Are you one of those people who toss and turn all night? Do you find yourself waking up exhausted and frustrated because you can’t seem to drift off to sleep?
If so, we’ve got some good news for you! In this blog post, we’ll talk about the best things you can do to get a solid six or seven hours of sleep. That might not sound like a lot, but it’ll definitely make a big difference.
Here are the best tips we can give you:
Take a hot shower or bath before bed. The heat will help you relax, and the effects can last for well over an hour after your shower. You could even take a few minutes to read a book or magazine or write in your journal.
Keep a consistent schedule. We all have an internal clock that dictates when we should sleep and when we should be awake. But our bodies usually need some help keeping this clock on schedule. One of the best ways to do this is to keep a consistent schedule for going to bed and waking up each day. Even on the weekends! If possible, go to bed at about the same time every night, and get up around the same time each morning.
Don’t eat too close to bedtime. Your body needs time to digest any food you’ve eaten before it can get into sleep mode. And be sure to avoid foods or drinks with caffeine in them, since this stimulant can keep you awake. So if you have trouble falling asleep, skip dinner, don’t have dessert, and have only a cup of decaf coffee after dinner — but not too close to bedtime. Watch what you eat or drink. Foods like pizza, spicy foods, and acidic fruits (like oranges) can irritate your stomach and keep you up at night. These foods should be avoided before bedtime.
Don’t take naps that are too long. If you’re really tired, then perhaps a short nap will help. But if you have trouble falling asleep, don’t nap too long. Otherwise, your body might associate your bed with being awake. Instead, take a short nap, then plan on getting some sleep at night.
Don’t exercise close to bedtime. It’s great for your health if you get regular exercise. But you might find that it keeps you awake at night. So try to avoid exercising within two hours of bedtime. If you absolutely have to exercise, go for a walk instead, or do something that doesn’t make too much noise. But vigorous exercise will get your internal system revved up and ready to go…
Quiet your mind before bed. One of the most effective things you can do to help yourself fall asleep is to quiet your mind before bedtime. It can be hard to fall asleep if you’re worried about something, or if your mind is racing with thoughts.
Bonus Close your eyes and give thanks for all the experiences that have happened to you, for the day of “life” you have lived, it works miracles
