How To Get 100 Followers In Less Than One Week
You can have 100 followers in less than a week
Every Medium writer wishes to have 100 followers and to be a part of the Medium Partner Program at some point.
After I published my first article, I simply copied the link and began posting it in all Medium member groups on Facebook. I didn’t know much about these groups, but I expected to get a lot of followers quickly. That wouldn’t happen, and one of the moderators of one of those groups woke me up to reality when rejected my post. It was a pre-programmed message, but it had a huge impact on me. It stated that if I am a beginner, I should begin engaging with others in order to get my first followers.
Evrika! I decided to make my goal a reality. One week later, I reached 100 followers.
If you are dedicated and willing to invest some of your time, you can get 100 followers in less than a week by following a few simple steps.
Be open to new topics
In my opinion, flexibility is the key to success. Perhaps you are extremely passionate about a niche topic and eager to write about it, but your audience is modest. Continue to write about it, but try to incorporate new topics that interest you into your stories as well. This will help you increasing your overall audience as well as finding or being found by readers who are interested in your niche topic.
When I decided to join Medium, I intended to write about Russia’s and Ukraine’s war. I thought that this would be the piece that would bring me success and pique people’s interest in learning more about this subject. Unsurprisingly, I wasn’t the only one who wrote an article about it.
The truth is that I enjoy researching and debating this type of political topic, but it takes a lot of research, information validation, and making connections between facts before you can deliver your work to the readers. It takes me at least 2–3 days to collect and analyze all of the data.
Surprisingly or not, I’ve discovered that readers prefer stories with a personal touch and facts that they can apply in their daily lives over stories written in a harsh/academic language.
When I was taking a break from the political stories, I decided to write about things I’ve done or things that have helped me in my life. I’ve changed my mind and rethought the topics I’ll be writing about. And it was doubtlessly a wonderful idea. I never imagined I’d be so open about my life.
Start following people who share your interests
You should first give in order to receive, so proceed by following writers who share your interests. You’ll be able to identify how other people are thinking, writing, and addressing the same topics as you. Examine their work to see how they’ve structured their stories.
You can also follow writers who are not writing about your interests but whose writing style you admire. You never know when a writer will start writing stories about something completely different.
I believe you can follow 70% of the writers who share your interests and 30% of the writers who write outside of your interests. The majority of the time, engagement in the posts of other writers will come back to you.
Get a medium membership
As I previously stated, you must give in order to receive. So, if you want to get more followers and create a stable community, you should engage with other writers.
Medium has a limited number of free reads per month, which makes gaining 100 followers more difficult (when you want to engage with other people’s stories).
Purchasing a medium membership allowed me to interact with more writers while also gaining 100 followers in a safer and faster way. The medium membership also allowed me to spend 2–3 hours per day reading other writers’ stories, clapping, leaving honest comments, and following them without restriction.
Start writing for a publication
Writing for a publication will give you access to a wider audience. There are plenty publications on Medium that accept new writers’ work. However, you must meet both the Medium guidelines and the publication’s specific guidelines. If you want to get your stories published faster, read them carefully.
Some publications only accept draft stories, but others, such as ILLUMINATION accept self-published stories as well.
Write more than one story
I recently noticed that some newcomers write a story and then don’t post anything for at least a week. Be constant in your work, one story is not enough to be noticed by other writers or readers.
If you want to be found by new readers, provide them with high-quality content and show them why they should follow you for future stories.
The results will not be long in coming.
