How I Found My Purpose

How to find a purpose worth living for

Question Everything

As I grew up, turning 18 and becoming an “adult” almost seemed like a utopian idea, that one day I would finally be free to do whatever we wanted without having to ask for permission.

However as I grew up, I watched the light in peoples eyes vanish, with the monotony of responsibilities, student debt and other life’s obstacles squashing the joy right out of us.

As I watched people pass away, struggle with mental health and just lack a sense of purpose in general, I feel it’s necessary for me to share some of my secrets that keep me above the water and be a beacon of inspiration for those who need it.

Don’t stop asking questions!

As an adult we assume we already know all the answers and theres no point to investigate, whatever we see on the news we assume to be true, whatever our teachers tell us we don’t second guess, we are never actually taught at school how to think for ourselves but are indoctrinated into a system made to silence our creativity.

Dream Bigger

I’m sure you’ve experienced this before, you’ve been working towards a goal for a very long time and you’ve finally made it to the finish line after grinding your bones dry. Your happiness lasts for no longer than a minute and onto the next problem you go.

We never actually spend time to appreciate and be proud of our achievements, because of the pointless rush we feel obliged to maintain.

We are so fixated on our problems, that we never take time out of our lives to see how much we have. Even if you were to try, we would never be able to count the number of blessings in our lives.

A life of fulfillment means feeling grateful for what you do have right now. Nothing in life is certain to stay except your death.

Someone might steal your phone tomorrow, or you might die in car accident next week, its important to live in the present and just be grateful for what we have, because we came into the world with nothing and you will leave it in the same way!

Nothing is stopping you from having a positive attitude on life right now! You don’t have to wait until that one goal to feel happy, you can appreciate you life and take each failure as lesson towards success.

“The Billion dollar mindset”

You must have heard this phrase a lot “Wealth does not buy you happiness”, although there might be some truth to that statement, I feel there is a more to the statement than just the blanket definition.

Many of us when we try imagine a “Millionaire” or “million dollar man”, society likes to throw words around like “arrogant”, “stingy” or comments like “all he cares about it money”.

However if we were to look at it from a different perspective, becoming the “million dollar man” to me means more than just money.

I believe the journey of self growth to become that person is far more invaluable that the wealth it self.

It would require you to be disciplined, financially literate and responsible. The wealth and success, are just a side effect of your character traits.

So it’s important to remember, if your chasing wealth it starts from within.

A Higher Purpose

Why do we exist? Why were we put on this earth? These are questions I used to ask myself when I was 5 when I was looking at my tiny hands, having an existential crisis.

The gloomiest people I know are the people who believe there is nothing more than just this life, that our life has no purpose for existence, we just happen to exist due to “probability”.

Knowing that you were placed here for a higher purpose, that one day you will be accountable for our actions should bring comfort and sense of purpose to your life.

Angela Cavallo a mother who saw her unconscious child trapped under a car, in a panic induced psychosis, she managed to pick up the car by herself, screamed for help and finally after holding up the car for 5 minutes the neighbors arrived to save her unconscious child from beneath the car.

Parent’s love their children more than they love themselves and this is a clear example of how someone is able to surpass the human limit when we fight for a greater purpose than ourselves and should show us we are capable of more than we think!

If we all struggled for something greater than ourselves, we would find ourselves constantly surpassing the limits we thought we had!

Final Thoughts

Regret. You do not want to be on your death bed, asking yourself “what if”, if you lived your life according to what you believe is the best, you will have no regrets. None of us know can guess when we will die, we might die tomorrow from a lightning strike or hidden health condition. If we live every moment of our lives with purpose and take every moment as a gift you will re-discover the purpose of living!
