Summary

To find your ideal life path, become a keen observer, engage in diverse experiences and emulate role models, evaluate your alignment with observed success strategies, and remain consistent in your chosen endeavor.

Abstract

Identifying your ideal path in life is a process initiated by shifting paradigms to realize that current conditions reflect entrenched mental habits, or "paradigms." Personal growth necessitates vigilant observation of the habits, behaviors, and attitudes leading to success in your aspirational areas: career, relationships, health. You must then align with people and experiences embodying your aspirations. Inspiration can come from virtually anywhere, like shadowing someone in the role or field you're drawn to or networking both virtually and in real life with role models, be they speakers, athletes, entrepreneurs, etc. Thirdly, there is the step of reflecting honestly on whether a role model's process aligns with your values and determination to undertake that same process for reaching success as you've envisioned it for yourself, keeping in mind that desire for the journey matters just as much as the pursuit of the final result.

Opinions

  • People succeed or fail largely because of their "paradigms" - collections of habits that guide one's actions and outcomes.
  • Mentorship, direct observation of role models, and imitation of those who achieve results one admires, can be vital stepping stones in one's success.
  • Open-mindedness is essential - engaging with novel experiences could reveal unconsidered passions and directions that might alter the trajectory of one's life for the better.
  • Side projects should be nurtured and kept in parallel to main commitments as they have the potential to lead to greater and unforeseen opportunities if consistently pursued.
  • Authentic alignment between an individual and the steps taken to reach success determines the long-term suitability of their chosen life path. It's not just the goal, but also the way, that matters in a meaningful journey towards fulfillment and achievement.
  • Young individuals are encouraged to remain active and self-observant on platforms such as YouTube or other social networks where role models may serve as inspirations or practical examples for lifestyle habits.

How To Find Your Ideal Path In Life

I remember being 18 years old and a friend of mine dragging me out to a conference all the way out in Las Vegas, NV. There was a speaker at this conference who started to talk about paradigms, the science of how the mind works and the psychology behind why people succeed and fail. His keynote completely captivated me and everything clicked. I came to a realization that everything that was good or bad in my life has been due to a certain paradigm (multitude of habits) that I have engraved into my head. We as humans think in visuals. If I were to tell you to stop and think of “mom” for a second, chances are you didn’t think of the letters M-O-M and instead you pictured your mother in your head. Your career, your relationship, your physical health and well-being is a result of your current paradigms and how you think about all these subjects. I often fast forward in my head where I am in 15–20 years and ask “is that what I want my life to look like?” If you’re in a company look at a person 20 years ahead of you and ask yourself that question. If the answer is no, then you need to find a new path. So the first step to finding your path is to be a great observer.

The second step is to follow that observation. Be open and exposed to unique experiences and role models. Shadow them, network with them, study them from afar on platforms such as YouTube or other social platforms if you don’t actually know them. An example of this is when I was 17 years old and I weighed under 100 lbs and wanted to start working out, I started watching guys on YouTube who had the results I wanted and started to imitate their workout routines and eating habits. Don’t be scared to try new things. Maybe while you have to be “practical” and attend school or work a job because you need to pay bills, start doing something on the side and test yourself. You never know where that side project will lead you to down the road if you are consistent and continue to work with it.

The third step is to finally answer yes or no to your observation. “Does that work for me?” Not everyone is going to want to become a speaker, writer or a leader as I do and that’s totally cool. Not everyone who is going to go and shadow a billionaire is going to want to do that either. Some people would look at a billionaire and would be the first to raise their hand and say “yes, that’s what I want my life to look like” but then when it comes to the process of what it would take to get there, the answer isn’t the same. Observing, focusing, shadowing, getting as close to the process of your role model and then going yes or no. Asking yourself if you want the process, not just the result.
