Summary

The web content describes a daily exercise inspired by Neale Donald Walsch that involves choosing a desired state of being for different times of the day to live more intentionally.

Abstract

The article introduces a transformative daily practice based on the teachings of Neale Donald Walsch, emphasizing the importance of consciously choosing one's state of being. It highlights the lack of such education in formal systems and the potential for individuals to take control of their daily experiences by deciding how they want to feel and act in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The exercise involves creating a grid with seven columns for the days of the week and three rows for each part of the day, filling each cell with a single word that embodies the desired state of being. This method is presented as a way to shift from a reactive to a proactive approach to life, allowing for the cultivation of specific emotional and mental states and enhancing one's ability to manifest desired experiences.

Opinions

  • The author believes that the ability to choose one's state of being is a crucial life skill that is often overlooked in formal education.
  • It is suggested that most people do not actively decide on their state of being, which is seen as a missed opportunity for personal growth and intentional living.
  • The article posits that becoming conscious of the unconscious is a significant part of human awakening and personal development.
  • The exercise is presented as a tool for conscious life creation, empowering individuals to adopt desired states of being at will.
  • By planning and writing down the intended state of being, individuals can train their subconscious to default to these states, making it easier to embody them when needed.
  • The author views the state of being grid as a powerful method for transitioning from a reactionary life to one that is lived with intention and purpose.

How To Embody Any State of Being You Desire On Demand

What you are being is a choice and not a reaction.

This is a simple yet vital teaching that’s missing in our formal education system. We don’t learn the power of living with intention. We don’t learn how to create a vision for who we are.

And most importantly we don’t learn that we can choose our state of being.

Most people go their whole lives without ever deciding who and what they want to be each day.

Every day, we decide to brush our teeth and bathe. We decide what clothes to wear and what food to eat. However, we don’t decide how we want to be ahead of time.

This realization was one of the biggest turning points in my life. For a long time, I operated in reaction mode, and the idea of intentionally choosing my state of being was not something I wasn’t even aware of.

And that’s the point — this is part of our journey as humans. We are here to wake up—to become more conscious of what is unconscious.

Part of this awakening is realizing our power in consciously creating our life and that we can arbitrarily choose our state of being at any given moment.

The One Word State of Being Grid

There’s a great little exercise inspired by author Neal Donald Walsch that has helped me experiment with doing this through the years.

  1. Create a grid with 7 columns, one for each day of the week, and 3 rows; representing the morning, afternoon, and evening for each day.
  2. In each cell, write one word that represents the state of being you would like to embody during that particular part of the day.
  3. You can also go through your regular calendar and review what you have scheduled for the upcoming day and choose a state of being that would complement or enhance the experiences you intend to encounter

The power of this exercise

  • Allows you to be intentional instead of reactionary. You are deciding ahead of time who you want to be rather than based on something that happens in your outside world.
  • By writing down your state of being, you begin planting a seed in your subconscious mind to default to that state whenever you are in a particular situation.
  • This becomes a form of training to embody the states of being of your choice on demand.

You can download the grid as a simple Notion Template.
