The first equation is Success = Potential / Effort. You can take any goal and divide the potential for success by the effort you exert. If it’s complicated or unknown, just use your own best judgment.

Once you have your equation, change the potential and effort until you get to a point where it is acceptable to you, then work on being great after that.

We all have different thresholds for what we consider acceptable. For me, I would never try something if it was more than a 10:1 ratio of effort to succeed. In other words, if the potential for success was $1 million, then I wouldn’t even bother with an idea unless I felt it was worth less than $100K in effort. This doesn’t guarantee success; but, it makes sure that the potential is worth at least a reasonable amount of effort.

Success is not the same as being happy, successful, rich, or anything else. Success means success after you work hard to get there. It is how you feel on the inside when you achieve something that truly matters — which is different than achieving just to feel good about yourself.

You can achieve success no matter your age, education, or race by understanding and using this formula.

Take a few minutes to work through the steps below;

STEP 1 — Identify your true potential by assessing your skills and abilities. Your potential is based on whether or not you have the right tools for any given job, position, or goal. If you don’t have the right tools for success, you won’t be able to achieve it.

STEP 2 — Eliminate your resistance by identifying common sources of resistance and overcoming them. Resistance comes in many forms such as lack of knowledge, fear of failure, procrastination, and addiction. When any of these is present in your life you will be less likely to build momentum towards achieving goals.

Eliminate resistance by asking yourself questions like “How do I really want things to be?” “What would happen if I failed?” “What would be the worst thing that would happen if I failed?”.

STEP 3 — Get into the zone by practicing active concentration and focus. The zone is the place you want to be. The zone is where you can achieve success.

The more often you practice getting into the zone, the easier it becomes.

STEP 4 — Eliminate any false beliefs that are holding you back from achieving your goals, such as limiting beliefs and fears. The key is to replace negative beliefs with positive ones that encourage success.

To do this, repeatedly say to yourself;

“I am successful even before I begin!” and “Even if I fail, it does not affect whether or not I am a successful person.”

STEP 5 — Imagine yourself being successful at meeting your goals by calling up mental images of how great you will feel when your goal has been achieved.

Keep imagining yourself being successful and the more you do, the greater your chances of achieving success will be.

By using this 5-step formula, you can achieve success while creating your own path and lifestyle. Instead of being pulled down by society’s standards and expectations, you will be living in a manner that feels right for you. You will feel good on the inside because you are living life on your terms, not society’s.

Continue to work on yourself. Continue to practice getting into the zone, and continue to work towards achieving your goals. When you do, you will find that it becomes easier and easier, until one day everything feels perfect.

I’ve been immensely fortunate to have the ability to work with incredible clients, but I’ve met many people who don’t have that luxury. The truth is, most people don’t have the money or resources to take the paths I’ve taken during my own journey. This is why this formula is for everyone, not just those on a billionaire’s budget.

I hope you will find this a useful tool for you as well! Let me know what you think.
