How To Deal With Tough Times Like This Christmas Season

Because it is the toughest time of the year for too many

Those of us who call ourselves Christians are celebrating this time of the year to honor and celebrate the birth of Christ on Earth. Jesus is the clearest and brightest example for many of the One who expressed the Power of Christ on Earth.

A Course in Miracles tells us “For Christ takes many forms with different names until their oneness can be recognized. But Jesus is for you the bearer of Christ’s single message of the Love of God.”

What does this have to do with handling myself in the Christmas season? Only everything! No matter what you call your Higher Power, there is only one! It can be called God, Christ, Lord, Allah, Buddha, or The Group.

Even atheists believe that there is some Power controlling the Universe otherwise they would think that they were living in a vacuum of time and space and I have never met one yet who did.

The Love of God was taught by Jesus in both word and action. He lived for the Love of God and died for the Love of God. He performed so-called miracles with people who were starving for a Higher Power by SHOWING THE LOVE OF GOD for all people, especially the downtrodden.

These people that He met were no different from you or me. All either believed in something different for a Higher Power or for none at all, just like you and me.

Many had done things in their pasts, both immediate and historical pasts, that they were not proud of, maybe even afraid of others finding out. Many had ached for forgiveness for their pasts and did not have a clue where to look for it or how, just like you and me.

Bill and Bob were not even a gleam in their ancestors' eyes back then. So, there was not a better time for the world to begin listening to a Man who gave full and total credit to his Father, God, at all times — never wavering.

Since we are all Spiritual Beings, God is working through us, too. The people who embody this Higher Power are doing God’s work. So we all have the same spiritual DNA flowing through our veins as anyone who has ever existed.

Jesus embodied working His Program 24/7/365. You can do the same. How, you may ask? Take the 3rd Step and turn your wills and lives over to the care of God as you understand Him and then DON’T TAKE IT BACK!

Working your program 24/7/365 means LIVING your Program 24/7/365 and NOT TAKING IT BACK! Not just in church or temple. Not only when going to a meeting. Not only when things are going well but 24/7/365.

We must also add “to the best of our ability” because it is not always easy, especially when peer pressure says “Here is an easier and softer way.” We are not perfect and this is why we work only to the best of our abilities.

This is the Easier, Softer way for me and can be for you. This is how we make it through the tough times, including holidays. If you did not drink or do drugs today you have choices, maybe for the 1st time in your life.

The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas in the USA is arguably the most trying time of the year for many. People are reminded that this is family time and all should be jolly and joyful.

For many, the opposite is true. They have lost their job, family, or any of several tragedies and can not find it in themselves to be happy at all. The media does not help at all by repeatedly showing jolly Santas and pictures of happy families gathered around full tables or Christmas trees.

These people feel more like lousy losers than gleeful gnomes. “How can I possibly be happy when I don’t have anything or anybody to share it with?” Suicides and assaultive crimes are high at this time of every year.

So, what do you choose? Don’t rush your answer! Take your time! What do you want? Do you want to be Happy, Joyous, and Free 24/7/365? Then simply work your program without complicating it in any way 24/7/365.

Being One with the Universe, I see Christ in everything because I am One with Everything. This is because God is working through me and every living being.

Since that is the case, I love everything and everyone. I don’t have to agree with everything, but I do realize that my God didn’t make any junk.

The Program introduced me to my first Spiritual Advisor, Emmet Fox, over 40 years ago. Although he had passed in the 1950s, he still taught through his books, essays, and recorded talks.

I now have one in Reverend Stephanie Sorensen who is nearby and sharing. She prefers not to be called a Spiritual Advisor. Choosing instead to be called a Spiritual Reminder because we were all born as spiritual beings. Hence we knew these things since birth into the human experience.

You will have your Spiritual Advisors too but, as we have said before, choose wisely. I love you all!
