How To Deal With Having Your Stories Not Being Accepted By Big Publications
The majority of people starting out on this platform have been through this. You might think that you are not good enough, or that you don’t have an understanding of the way things should be done. Although these things might be partially true, consider that big writers are still going through the same things occasionally, and that there might be more to the story than beginner’s eyes can see.
There’s no secret conspiracy or well locked secrets lying out there about this platform waiting to be unlocked after one, two, maybe three years on here. Not that I know of, anyway. As I started my journey I tried to get published two whole times and then decided that this is not a path worth pursuing for me. After that brief hiccup, it all went uphill, to the point of no return.
Think of yourself as a freelance journalist specializing in the world of self publishing. Thinking that you are a journalist will give you imaginary license to ask your own questions and to formulate your own opinions, to learn.
Sooner or later, on your writing path, you’ll get invited to these big publications; it will be your decision to join or decline. Most importantly, by that time you won’t need to join them; it will be a mere choice, based on the value they bring to your path. Writing is a solitary act, after all.
