How To Cultivate The Right Perception of Your Obstacles
HOW TO LEVERAGE THE POWER OF CHOICE

The path of life is not paved with gold. Instead, there are several setbacks that might take us off our focus at times. These setbacks may either drive us into a downward cycle of despair or pull us up and above the hurdles, depending on how we choose to interpret them.
How do you see your setbacks? Are they impediments or stepping stones?
A wise man once said, “Obstacles are those unpleasant things that arise in front of us when we take our thoughts off our goals.”
The First Wise Step
You will never know whether you have arrived if you don’t know which road you’re going. To be successful in life, we must create goals for ourselves. In life, we will face several challenges and detours on our path to achievement; if we do not set these goals, there is a higher chance that we will give in to failure.
Have you thought about what you want to do with your life? Do you have a clear picture of where you want to go in a year? Have you established any goals for the future in the next 5 or 10 years?
You’re like a man driving without a map if you haven’t established goals for yourself. You don’t know where you’re heading. Maybe you enjoy being in the passenger seat and admiring the scenery, but sooner or later, you’ll find yourself in a location you don’t want to be.
The Power of Choice
Take a look at your current situation. You are where you are in life due to your previous decisions. You and only you have brought yourself to where you are right now in life. And it is you who has the power to remove yourself from your current mess. Hence, enough of blaming others for your mishap. You make them your master when you blame others for your failure. As a result, you’re unwisely vulnerable to depending on them for the solution.
Personal Experience
I’m in my mid-40s, and I’ve had many trials and challenges. And here is my testimony — every time I find myself in a mess either caused by myself or others. The first approach was to blame people for my mishap.
But I discovered the more I blame people, the more I sink into the pit of my adversity. The worst thing is that my attitude boosted my foe’s ego. So then I changed my mindset and approach, switching from blaming to taking ownership. That was when I began to see my long-expected change. Not only that, I felt more proud of myself, and that increase my self-esteem.
The Despised Way Out
Therefore, the wise mindset is to look away from them even if they are responsible. Look away from people you think are responsible for your misfortune and start taking ownership of your life. Even if truly they brought the mess on you, in some little ways, you helped them, and you’re helping them again by blaming them. So, therefore, stop giving them the honor. Instead, honor yourself by saying, “I caused this mess for myself, and I will fix it with the help of God.” That’s a winner’s affirmation.
The Wise Questions
How do you begin? Start by asking yourself some questions. How did you get here, and what wrong steps did you take that brought you here? Are you content with your current situation? Do you have any future ambitions or dreams? Or do you like to remain in your current location? Keep in mind that a rolling stone does not collect moss. If we do not go forward, we drift backward and begin to collect moss and disintegrate.
Hopefully, you want to go forward and discover everything that life has to offer at this point in your life. To accomplish so, you must first set a goal. Choose whatever aim you want. Begin by considering where you want to be six months from now. Then, take everything one at a time.
Once you’ve chosen what you want to see in your life in six months, it’s time to write them down and divide them into manageable chunks. Then, say to yourself, “In six months, I want to be so and so .” To get there, I’ll have to do this and that.”
The Power of Imagination
You may visualize your objective as a success as you gaze down the path ahead. However, to attain this aim, you must consider what barriers can arise along the way from point A to point B.
Be Proactive
It would be helpful to devise how you’ll deal with the hurdles that appear along the journey. They will not seem as big if you are prepared for them ahead of time, and you will be able to deal with them before they rear their ugly heads.
Have a strategy in place? The reason is that several paths can lead to your desired destination. So make sure you have plans A, B, and C. Reason behind this is that you always alternate if anything unexpected happens.
Conclusion
Obstacles will undoubtedly arise; the question is whether you will view them as a source of discouragement or a stepping stone to assist you in fine-tuning your aim.
There is a solution to every difficulty. Don’t be discouraged if plan A doesn’t turn out as planned. Try to think clearly and consider various options. Use your challenges to propel you to a higher level where you can see where you want to go clearly.

Reader’s discretion. The following paragraphs are strictly religious.
God never wired you to bear your burden alone. Therefore, try to share with like-minded people. Life’s obstacles can kill when there’s no one with whom you can share them. But who is trustworthy enough to help you bear your burden? That’s why you need Jesus. His heart is large enough to bear your burdens, and His arms are wide enough to carry them. Yes, you need a man to help you, but you will always need God more. He says in Mattew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.”
From my experience, God is more than able to help. All you need do is acknowledge His Lordship and ask Him for help. You will be surprised at His willingness and capability to help.
I will read your testimony in Jesus Christ’s name.
