Why should you care about your mental health? Many countries have a lack of education towards mental health, and they don’t consider it to be worthy of attention. If a person goes to a therapist, then that person is more likely to be labelled as mentally ill not only by society but also by its relatives.

They don’t take mental health seriously as they consider it to be a myth just like in the old days where mental illness considered fabricated. However, mental illness is absolute, and it can happen to anyone — me, you, or the person next to you — it can cause distress, weakness, and uncomfortability within your lifestyle. Therefore, we should indeed take care of it by continuously checking our mental state as our mind is in control of our actions and behaviours.

Why is it necessary to educate yourself about mental health?

Life has its ups and downs like a roller coaster. As we grow old, our physical body and mentality grow as well. Age 10 to 20 are the most important as we learn a lot about the differences between right and wrongdoings. The hardships we indulge in influence our mental health, and we never know what the other person is going through.

Sometimes, we are blinded by our mind so much so that we can’t tell what is real and what is imaginary. If we don’t take care, then it could cause a lot of problems for us, such as depression, stress, anxiety, etc. Our whole life depends upon it. Our success and failures in life depend upon our mental health, and we should take it seriously.

If a person is physically fit and healthy, then it doesn’t mean that he is mentally healthy as well.

Many people go to the gym, do exercises, and they are physically fit and healthy, however, they still face mental health problems and seek therapy.

Adults are prone to mental health problems more as they indulge in complications related to their house. They have to deal with everything, such as financial problems within the family that could cause fights or other family disputes that are not fully in their control. Therefore, we should take extra care of adults around us.

A person’s behaviour tells a lot about his situation. If a person is frustrated all the time, then something is bothering him. You must talk with your close friends and family members to help them deal with their mental health problems. A person who shares his issues will talk for hours because he needs solutions by sharing his secrets, thoughts, and troubles. If the other person mock on him, then that person would not share his problems with anyone anymore due to lack of understandings by others.

Therefore, a person will feel a sense of believing that other people care about him by listening and helping him. It would help him in dealing with distress, anxiety, and depression.

Therapists and counsellors can help you and others. We should break the norm of society where going for therapy or therapist is considered as ill. It’s is not a shame to go to a therapist; instead, you are helping yourself, and its what matters the most.

It is practical as many people do write their daily routine in their diary to help themselves. Having a notebook by your side as a friend is always a better way to talk if you don’t like to talk to others about your problems.
  2. Trusted ones: If there is a person to whom you could tell all your secrets, and he supports you in all your matters. You should seek help from him because he could guide and advise you better. After all, he cares about you.
