How To Connect and Relate Your Way To Success.

Over almost my entire professional working life I have practiced connecting and relating to excellent effect. And the more you think about it, connecting and relating are also the way to enjoy unbridled success in your personal life.

At this point let me say that in some ways connecting and relating are synonymous. However, for the purposes of this article I want to treat them as separate concepts.

For me connecting is to establish a link between two separate entities. Writing here on Medium is a writer attempting to connect with readers. Relating is to identify with somebody or something. In this respect then connecting is a writer writing a headline and subheading which, with the help of an attractive visual, will hopefully create a connection between the two parties.

Relating is in the text of the article where the writer presents material, factual or fictional, with which the reader can identify. That relational information that we present then is the electrical current that travels between the two connections.

The headline and subheading should be a snappy spark electrifying enough to catch the reader's attention. Once that connection has been established it is the duty of the writer to keep the connection going through a series of prosaic or poetic devices.

First off you need to decide upon your subject matter. Try to choose something with universal appeal. And since love, money, and sex are the drivers of all of our everyday lives they have to come top of the list. Of course, they are not the only ones, there are a great many more such as technology and culture.

Now, having decided upon a topic think about how you can catch the reader's attention about that topic. 'How to get a beautiful woman to fall in love with you', How to make a million dollars' and How to get more sex.' are winning headlines as they pique the natural curiosity we all feel.

As a subheading, you could try 'Everything you need to know about what women look for in a man.' Notice how we are now stepping toward the content of the text. This should at the very least intrigue your reader to take one step further into the text.

Ok, so now we are into the relating part of the article.

"Every man knows how difficult it can be at times to catch the attention of a beautiful woman." Here we are striving to identify with other mens' experiences of trying to get hitched to a woman. Now we need to come up with an idea of how to encourage the reader to continue reading. We need a promise which will entice the reader forward. How about delivering on our initial promise, the three most important things a woman is looking for are......

Respect Attention Kindness

That may or may not be true, it depends on the woman. But you are offering an opinion based on your own successful experiences with women. Moreover, you are offering a takeaway from which the reader can potentially learn and use with great success in their own endeavours with women.

Might I also say that I think it is really important for you to offer something of your own intimate experiences where what you are saying works did actually work for you. People love to read personal stories, especially if they are positive helpful ones that give them a useful, proven takeaway.

What I have said so far goes for pretty much any topic you choose to write about, be it love, money or sex. Might I also point out that there is a very good reason I chose three things. For some mysterious reason, three (and seven)is one of those numbers imbued with some sort of magical power. One is not enough and four is too many. However, do be careful as somebody once told me that three is the number of liars. Hmmmmm....

For my part, I write articles of between three and five minutes (though I have just published a much longer one). People do read the longer articles, but I think about my own reading habits whereby I like to read articles of three to five minutes due to time constraints. I read when I am waiting for a pot to boil, waiting for a bus, waiting for my eyes to droop just before I go to sleep.

Try to be honest, respectful, sincere, and above all interesting and informative. If I want to read the equivalent of the label on a jar of jam I'll go to the larder thank you very much.

So here we are at just about four minutes and it's time for me to let you digest what little information I have given you. Hopefully, you can put it to good use in all of your endeavours and have a very successful writing life if not a vastly improved life of sexual conquests.
