How to Come up With an Infinite Number of Blogging Ideas

This works better for someone who isn’t necessarily stuck within one niche.

Coming up with loads of different topics to talk about can be challenging.

When I first started Medium, I thought had to be a credible expert on something in order to talk about it, so I shared personal stories.

Now that I’ve been on the platform for about a year, I can see that good stories that are told from the heart or told with tremendous research are the ones that will survive and thrive.

Here are some of the cheat codes I use in having an infinite number of topics to write about without causing too much stress.

Make a list, there’s no if’s and’s or but’s about it.

You need to have a place where you keep all your potential article ideas. Without one, you’re going to sit in front of a blank screen every time you go to write and stare blankly.

It’s hard to come up with an idea right on the spot every time.

So that’s why I created a list when I first started writing and have been building on it ever since.

Some nights, I’ll lay next to my phone and have it create a list so that all I need to is speak into the phone and it will record my ideas.

The great thing about a list is that you don’t have to use every idea. I mean I canceled my article “Why I Want to Be Rich” and that just seemed too basic and needy.

Once you get into a flow state of article idea generation, you’re going to be set free and on your way to producing tons of stories.

I have written 489 articles and I’m still not burnt out!

By no means am I trying to flex that I’ve written 489 articles. For all I know, they may all be nonsense in your opinion. Quality over quantity.

But since my mind is always running in different directions, it’s not easy to stick to just one niche.

I’m a very free writer who gets nothing but pleasure from writing. And plus, it never feels like work.

The reason I was able to come up with 489 different ideas is that I’m constantly thinking about my next move. Every time I add to my list of article ideas, I am investing in my writing future and saving lots of time doing it.

Without a plan in place, you’re going to struggle, stagnate, and possibly quit.

No idea is stupid, wrong, or a waste of time, so stop being hard on yourself.

If you wanted to write online without getting judged, critiqued or scrutinized for the stuff you write, then you sadly came to the wrong place.

Someone who takes other people’s comments too personally might have a tough time.

You’re going to have a lot of ideas that kick ass and you crush it.

You’re also going to have a lot of ideas that could use a little more thought.

But the key is that you keep building your list, keep thinking of ideas, and always paying attention to your surroundings.

A lot of my blog ideas come from personal life experiences, thoughts I have, and sometimes even entertainment.

The Takeaway

The best part about blogging is that you don’t have to commit to something that’s the size of a book.

Blogging is putting together a few thoughts and ideas that are crafted in a digestible way for a reader to consume and apply in their own life.

If you get burnt out and literally run out of things to say, you might have to get out there and start living more.

Otherwise, be persistent and take into account all your life experiences and write about topics that really resonate with you.

There’s always something.
