How to Clean and Display Your Vintage China to Improve Mental Wellness

The Elegant Should be Using Their Cherished Antique China Every Day

One of the greatest problems facing design devotees today is a less than happy state as well as barriers in our mental wellness journey. Most of us have not been able to travel to our favorite destinations or pop into the best shops to obsess over the latest trends in tableware. A symptom of this dilemma is uninspired kitchen spaces in unkept homes. The solution is to prepare for the reopening of polite society by pulling out all of our vintage china pieces, cleaning and polishing every piece, and displaying them with sophistication, ready for high tea. This process will clean the china, and clear the mind.

I first noticed the opportunity for more love and self-care through vintage china care in my community when I moved into a new apartment in San Francisco. My neighbors were in our common community garden drinking hot chocolate from plastic cups. It was a shocking display but I hid my horror well. The crucial issue of china being hidden away in cupboards while perfectly elegant people openly use disposable dinnerwear persists because the world is in a state of melancholy, due to recent global events. Parisian antique dealer, Ajiri Aki, would agree. As the founder of Madame de la Maison, a boutique studio that collects, sells, and rents antique tableware, she firmly believes the elegant should be using their cherished antique china pieces every day to bring joy into the home (Aki, 2020).

Mental Health Issues Associated with Dusty China Locked Away in Cupboards

  1. Clutter may contribute to depression. in a recent study, women who described their living spaces as cluttered or full of unfinished projects were more likely to be fatigued and depressed than women who described their homes as restful and restorative (Saxbe, D. E., & Repetti, R. 2010).
  2. Low self-esteem and respect can exhibit symptoms like a dirty home (Weimert, 2019).
  3. Weakness and incapability can be mental processes that are fostered and encouraged in a dirty home (Gordon, 2021).

Clean Your China as a Small Start to a Whole New Outlook

When faced with global undoing, elegant people will not fall down a hole of dirt, clutter, and styrofoam cups. The simple solution of pulling out your old china and giving it the shine it deserves will help you avoid this peril and assist you in bringing yourself to a sophisticated mental state and place in society.

Step one. Shine and clean your fabulous china. Start by using a solution of fresh Amalfi Coast lemon juice and coarse ground sea salt. Using your best dishcloths and rinse. Wash china in warm water. As you clean, take deep breaths and recite positive affirmations to manifest a return to luxury living (New England Today Living, 2017).

Step two. Remove stubborn brown stains from your fabulous china. Use your best dishcloths to rub on a solution of sea salt and vinegar. Always try to wash your cups directly after high tea to prevent this disaster from ever happening again. As you scrub away stains, take yoga breaks to stretch out the stains left on your heart, and spring forward in your spiritual minimalist maximalist lifestyle design journey (New England Today Living, 2017).

Step three. Display your fabulous china. This is crucial. You may want to show your china in a cabinet next to your crystal pedestal cake stands, or separately on their own. You may want to splash it out on a sideboard in the elegant dining space of your condominium with a vase of fresh flowers. Be sure to coordinate your vintage dinnerware with new pieces and fresh textiles.

“Every day is worthy of “the good china” and all the pretty pieces you buy. You chose them for their beauty or story and they bring you joy. You deserve to use them. I also believe you’re offering someone a gift when you share your treasures and welcome them to your table.” -Ajiri Aki (Aki, 2020)

We have seen that a wave of unhappiness has fallen on elegant society temporarily. We know that a major symptom of this is a lack of care for our homes and glamourous ceramic pieces. Let us take charge of our environments and mental clarity by giving life to our beautiful vintage china, through mindful cleaning processes. This proves to manifest a greatly improved mindset ready to fulfill a classy and calm existence.
