Summary

The article discusses the Canadian Trucker Protest, its unlawful and racist nature, and how Prime Minister Trudeau can end it by learning from his father's handling of domestic terrorists in the past.

Abstract

The Canadian Trucker Protest, while appearing peaceful, is a racist and unlawful anti-vaccine mandate demonstration that has disrupted the peace in Ottawa. Despite claims of peaceful protests, the sheer size and power of the trucks blocking the city's heart have caused noise, spectacle, and imposition. The protest has garnered worldwide attention, yet the number of protesters is relatively small. The article suggests that Prime Minister Trudeau should follow his father's example in dealing with domestic terrorists by implementing the War Measures Act to end the trucker crisis.

What You Didn’t Realize About Canada’s Racist, Unlawful Anti-Vax Trucker Protest

And how Prime Minister Trudeau can finally end it

Peaceful protest

While a parade of unvaccinated Canadian truckers converged on Ottawa last week to ‘make a stand’ against vaccine mandates, protest organizers insisted that demonstrations would remain peaceful.

Yes, when they finally arrived, there were scenes of maskless folks lovingly hugging other maskless folks. Joyous participants danced and sang “We’re not gonna take it” into the wee hours of the night. A good ol’ Canadian hockey game broke out in the streets. And when the gods sent a heavy disapproving snowfall their way, some unvaccinated do-gooders even took it upon themselves to shovel the walkways.

But don’t for a second believe that this racist anti-vaccine mandate protest is peaceful.

Breaking the peace

Detractors of this ridiculous monster trucker rally will refer you to photographs of demonstrators carrying upside-down Canadian flags, with hand-drawn swastikas scrawled across them. They’ll point out the offensive Confederate and Nazi flags sprinkled through the crowds of people. They’ll remind you that the key organizers of the rally are known racists and separatists. They’ll educate you on the fact that the vaccination mandates the truckers are uselessly protesting are provincial laws and not federal laws.

But, let me tell you, everyone has been focusing on the wrong thing.

The peace has not been broken because of random acts of idiocy, nor even random racist idiots. These things might be expected at every big protest.

The peace has been broken as a result of the sheer size and power of the giant trucks that are blocking up the heart of Ottawa.

Oh, the noise: The constant, deafening, and mind-blasting noise that comes when multiple big rigs defiantly deploy their air horns in unison. This is a noise that has rocked the city of Ottawa for over a week, and the locals are fed up with it.

Oh, the spectacle: The intimidating sight of a lineup of massive 35,000-ton trucks, driven mostly by what seems to be heavyset bearded white men. These trucks have become the only tourist attraction for the capital city. Even if it’s just hundreds, and not thousands, of trucks, it’s an imposing eye-sore.

Oh, the imposition: These gigantic trucks block up most of the road, preventing regular people from moving to and from their destinations undisturbed. The city is in gridlock.

These protests have garnered worldwide media attention. Unvaccinated and vaccinated people from all over the globe are watching with rapt attention.

But there’s one thing that everyone is failing to discuss.

A fringe minority

Here’s the amazing thing about this ‘flu-trux-klan’ rally, and something that I believe should absolutely blow your mind:

There aren’t that many people actually protesting in Ottawa.

Ottawa Deputy Police Chief Patricia Ferguson reported on Wednesday that, at its height, there were only between 8000 and 15000 people demonstrating.

8000 to 15000? That’s it?!

That’s fewer people than at an NHL hockey game. Hell, it’s fewer people than at some minor league hockey games.

It’s really, as Prime Minister Trudeau put it, ‘a fringe minority’ that are protesting in Ottawa right now. Trudeau’s assessment of the crowd is rational, considering more than 90% of Canadians are vaccinated.

While this highly organized fringe minority is behaving in an unlawful manner, the Ottawa police still say that there may not be a ‘policing solution’ to the problem.

This small handful of domestic terrorists has committed to occupying Ottawa until their demands are met. While part of those demands includes removing vaccine mandates, some more nefarious members of the movement have also discussed removing the Liberal government altogether. All of this occurs, while supporters ‘mock hang’ Trudeau dummies in the street.

I am reminded that, when faced with similar circumstances 52 years ago, then Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau stepped in to forcefully shut down a fringe terrorist group that threatened the nation’s security.

I believe the current PM could learn a valuable lesson from his father.

How Justin Trudeau’s dad shut down domestic terrorists

In 1970, a domestic terrorist group referred to as the ‘FLQ’ (Front de libération du Québec) claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of a French-Canadian politician named Pierre Laporte, while he was playing touch football on his front lawn with his family.

The FLQ wanted the Canadian government, led by Pierre Trudeau, to release 23 political prisoners in exchange for Laporte’s freedom.

Like his son, the elder Trudeau refused to negotiate with the terrorists.

As a result of his decision, on October 17th, Laporte’s body was found in a 1968 Chevrolet Biscayne at Montreal Saint-Hubert Longueuil Airport.

The public feared for the prospect of more kidnappings — more terrorism. Like this current mob of truckers, the FLQ presented a real threat to the peace of the country. So Trudeau Sr. reacted with force, rather than diplomacy.

He implemented the War Measures Act, which allowed the military to patrol the streets and make mass arrests and raids. The majority of Canada supported the move, while a small minority felt it had the potential to infringe on human rights.

When confronted at the steps of Parliament by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reporter Tim Ralfe, Trudeau was asked what more he was willing to do in order to keep the peace, and he famously responded “Just Watch Me”.

There were 465 people who were arrested and held as a result of the War Measures Act that October. The majority of those people were released and never charged with any crime.

On November 6, 1970, Bernard Lortie of the FLQ, was arrested after a police raid. Three other members escaped the raid but were captured in late December. All of them were sent to prison for the kidnapping and murder of Pierre Laporte.

Military intervention put an end to the FLQ crisis. And it could put an end to this trucker crisis as well.

Just watch me

Thankfully, the trucker convoy’s GoFundMe page, which had amassed more than 10 million dollars in donations, was just suspended. GoFundMe issued a statement to say that they could not support the protest because “the previously peaceful demonstration has become an occupation, with police reports of violence and other unlawful activity.”

All monies will be returned to the original sender or will be donated to charity.

This latest development could put a serious dent in the convoy’s ability to extend their disruption to life in the downtown core. They will need money if they intend to outlast the government. So many of them may leave.

Nonetheless, police fear that there will still be a number of protesters who are determined to stay.

The sad fact is that it’s not the number of protesters that matters. It’s the number of trucks. The trucks are doing the damage, and as long as they remain, life in Ottawa will not get back to normal.

Prime Minister Trudeau will shortly be faced with only one option, in my view. Like his father before him, he will need to send in the military. Right now, he is reluctant. He says it’s “not in the cards”.

But before long, if this incredible disruption to the lives of normal Canadians continues, he will need to put that entire downtown area into lockdown.

It’s the only way.

The military should arrest the truckers that remain. They need to physically clear the city of those massive vehicles, pending a penalty of jail time.

And when the fringe minority cries and complains about how he dare infringe upon the rights and freedoms of these unlawful domestic terrorists, he should reply with: “Just watch me”.
