How To Become Unflappable
Follow the steps towards a wonderful journey!
In today’s modern world, most of us live under the external environment’s pressure over us. The impact of the pressure is so huge that it creates stress, which leads to affect our cognitive ability to make the right decision and we end up destroying our health.
In the unpredictable world, from pandemic to international issues, from basic daily life to the workplace, we always find ourselves in a maize field. However, the quality of being ‘Unflappable’ helps to overcome all the challenges placed before us.
So, what does ‘Unflappable’ means? The dictionary meaning of ‘Unflappable’ is to be persistently calm, whether you are facing difficulties or successes.
When you see around, not only the emergency service responders such as doctors, firefighters, or police have to maintain their calm in intense and chaotic situations, but also ordinary people have to face this in everyday life. Starting from childhood, we see from peer pressure to teacher’s favoritism. At Universities, you can find difficult situations with some professors who run their monopoly based on ethnic backgrounds. When you enter the business world, you can see conflicts and differences, and people do not forget to attack one another. You will find yourself stressed out, and emotions can run very high. Even parenting and family gathering or reunion can stress you out in many situations where you want things to go right, and the outcomes are out of order. We are not born ‘Unflappable,’ however, we can learn or acquire this skill to make our lives run smoothly. Here, I am mentioning some of the skills that you can develop:
- Meditation and mindfulness techniques: By practicing meditation and mindfulness, one can find oneself grounded and centered. Breathing technique helps to meditate and can help to bring your mind back on track from any adverse situations. It can help to avoid the condition from being carried away by others.
- Deactivate your triggers: Try to identify your trigger points, what makes you angry, upset, sad, mad, hurt, or confused. Once you know yourself well, you can rearrange your thoughts to deal with each condition.
- Develop the skill to see the big picture: In most cases, people get carried away in a crisis and start giving opinions without looking at the broader picture. One should always care for what is essential and try to base their decision on priorities.
- Think before you respond: There are times when people give reactions without knowledge. It is better to take a breath, pause for a while, evaluate the situation, and then mark any response.
- Set boundaries: To your well being, it is vital to set boundaries for others. It will help to maintain your calm in a crisis.
- Be compassionate: Practice to be merciful to others and do it at your best. If you still find yourself frustrated, take a break, and enjoy what makes you healed and rejuvenated.
- Be humorous: If you have never been funny in life, you can still try. Humor helps to reduce any stressful impacts on the body. Life gives plenty of opportunities to be humorous!
- Tune your body: Get involved in physical activities and be persistent for the long term benefits.
Following the steps will help you to be ‘Unflappable.’ Again, life is always unpredictable; we can do what we can do towards our incredible journey!
Thank you!
