What Does It Take From Me to Give a Performance on Stage Like Lisa Nichols
How to become a transformational coach

Scene: She stood up on the stage in her yellow dress and looked confidently at the auditorium packed with people waiting to hear her speak. I was sitting on my chair while few members of the audience were sitting on couches.
She started her speech. She was using visual techniques that got our attention. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. She took some steps to the right while continuing her talk, then turned to the left. “What does it take to create an abundant life?” She asked, holding a book called “Abundance Now” in her hand.
“May I talk about something to do and create for you?” She said with a smile on her face, “I’m a coach, so I’m an action step. I’m an action step person because the prescription for radical success is action.”
She leaned forward and added in an affirming softer voice:
“The difference between you and the person living their dream is simply… the amount of action.”
I felt her energy, while she was moving purposefully. Then I heard her saying: “I’m not your motivational speaker. I’m your transformational coach. When I show up, I show up for your breakthrough.”
She was in the flow. She was strong, confident, and aware. Her message was clear and effective. She enjoyed the process and enjoyed making each person in the room feel good. I began to see myself. What did she do that made me feel good? How did her voice and body language change? How did she position herself in front of people? What gestures were used? How did people react?
Thought: The “she” in this brief scene was Lisa. Lisa Nichols. And the “I” was “me,” except that I was sitting behind my computer screen watching this talk on mindvalley and thinking about what does it take from me to be such a transformational coach?
The quick answer, according to Lisa, is that it takes to transform a life from chaos, lack, and limitation into something full of signification and fulfillment. It takes to stop looking in the window of other people’s fabulous lives and create an own breathtaking transformation.
But the question is, how?
Looking into myself, I realized that it takes for me to change the frame of my thoughts. It takes for me to stop feeling helpless toward some problems, to be decisive towards the hurdles slowing me down, to be focused, and stick to a strict process of pursuing my goals.
It was through this reasoning that I was set on a journey of learning “How to transform one’s life and inspire others, as Lisa did?”
Who Is Lisa?
Lisa Nichols is a motivational speaker, businesswoman, and best-selling author. Ѕhе іѕ thе fоundеr оf Моtіvаtіng thе Маѕѕеѕ аnd Моtіvаtіng thе Тееn. Her ѕеmіnаrѕ аnd bооkѕ have іnѕріrеd mіllіоnѕ оf реорlе.
She has a poor background and grew up in a rough neighborhood ѕurrоundеd bу mаfіа, rіоtѕ, аnd drug dеаlѕ. She started with a lot of frustration and struggle in her life, which was a reason for her to develop a strong sense of discipline, determination, and perseverance to realize a dream of achieving something great and never being broke and broken again.
Below are four lessons that I’ve learned from her.
You’re Your Own Rescue
It is easier for us to stand out in the crowd if we are surrounded by people who believe in us and want us to succeed. If we’re not surrounded by such conditions, we may find it difficult to overcome our struggles and thrive. It’s possible that many of the people we know, love, and admire do not have a similar vision to us… or worse yet, they think that we can’t make it and pull us back. In such a situation, we need to treat ourselves as we’re our own rescue and find an alternative source to push us forward. While it could be difficult to change our relatives and certain relationships, we can change our thinking.
“While there is a world filled with outside guidance, the truth is that the only person who can constantly look out for us is the person we see in the mirror. That’s the only person who is always watching, and that’s the only person who can take improved action based on immediate feedback.” — Zat Rana
Hearing about success stories of people who were at rock bottom, learning new skills, reading inspiring books or articles, and watching motivating videos help to feed ourselves with positive energy and get our unconscious mind to think about the direction we want to take.
The more we think about it, the bigger the chance would be that we’ll orient our actions with our mind’s vision.
Release the Past, It Doesn’t Belong in the Future
The things that hold us back from achieving our potential are often old mistakes, doubt, lack of approval, and other factors stamped by the past.
It’s very important not to let those things haunt us. The past represents where we’ve been and what we’ve done. It’s an opportunity to learn from in order to create a new story for ourselves from now onwards.
The past should not identify the person whom we want to become.
Fear Does Not Mean Stop
We might be scared by the possibility to fail or lose something because previous trials didn’t work or because we’ve never tried it before. When we are not standing on solid ground, we continue making excuses for why we can’t move towards our dreams.
The truth is that if we want something new; we need to pursue it until we succeed or fail. We need to tolerate risk and adjust when things go wrong.
“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.” — Jim Rohn
Having Vision
To transform ourselves and inspire others, we must first believe in this possibility; we must have a vision.
Our vision is like an artist’s idea for a piece that has not yet been created. It is an image constructed in our minds of what our lives could be. We need to visualize the future so we can create it.
We also need to detail this vision down into small, actionable steps so we know how to make it real.
Final Thought
Inspiring others to transform their lives as Lisa Nichols did requires a mindset of positive thought. Thus, we need to keep ourselves in charge of what we think about the most.
Lisa didn’t just change her appearance. She has changed first her mental pictures because an attractive life begins with an attractive mind.
An attractive life starts with our thinking, visualization, and planning. And the result is the sum of all our small steps that lead to a significant change for the better.
