How to Become a Better Human

To become a better human is all about making others better.

Based on our quest for survival, humanity has changed the context and meaning of so many things that the purpose behind certain words is, changed.

We are changing things every day based on how we feel and see them without considering our brethren.

And this, in return, is causing so many problems in the world. Problems that generally wouldn’t occur if not for our attitudes.

Why am l saying this?

Well, I’m saying this because when we say one is a better human, it goes beyond the definition society gives the word — that’s one’s welfare.

It’s something beyond ourselves and our lives. It’s about others, most importantly.

Being a better human is about treating yourself and others well to have a better world experience.

So quickly, let’s look at some of the things that sum up to be a better human by looking at what it means.

What it means to be a better human

The idea of being a better human is multi-dimensional. It’s not limited to oneself as the world has made it seem.

When we say someone is a better human, it deals with how well they treat themselves and treat others.

It deals with character, integrity, and honesty with yourself and the rest of the world. It’s about love for yourself and your neighbors. Always making sure that whatever it is you would love to have in your life, you crave the same thing for your brethren.

Better human isn’t selfish. It’s about fighting for the betterment of all, although starting from you. That’s treating yourself right and doing the things that help you become a better version of yourself, and projecting that love and compassion to others to ensure they also live better lives.

When one is a better human, they exude love and compassion wherever they go and ensure the people around also benefit significantly from making them live well and bringing good energy.

Better humans don’t seek power over their brethren. They instead empower people to become the best version of themselves and ensure every person that comes their way is made better by their actions. They are always thinking beyond themselves and looking for ways to make other lives better, which they know by doing that; their lives will also be better.

They are always asking; how do I help others solve their problems and live well?

What do I do to ensure people are in a better state? Etc.

By these, you’ll find that these people think beyond themselves and are people-driven instead of focusing on themselves.

When was the last time you thought of your neighbors and the bigger world and how you can help make it better?

You can’t tell. Why? Because society has taught you that being a better human is all about thinking about your welfare. Not others!

By it, you’ve become self-centered, always thinking about you and not your brethren. You’ve taken the concept of a better human to be working on yourself — health, career, finance, life, and your betterment only, ignoring that of your neighbor.

But that isn’t true. It about others first before you. As it’s when you’re able to make others better, you also become better.

“If you’re not making someone else’s life better, then you’re wasting your time. Your life will become better by making other lives better.” — Will Smith

How to become a better human

As we’ve seen, you become a better human by focusing on how to make others better. By that, you become people-centered instead of being self-centered.

You look at the various ways through which you can make other lives better, starting from you.

So it begins with the question; How can I make other people better to be better?

When you start to think through, you’ll discover that you have to make yourself better to make others better. And by that, you begin to work on yourself — character, relationship with others, and how to treat your brethren right.

You search for ways to serve others, and by it, you help yourself. You create abundance for people. Inspire hope and make the lives of others better.

It’s unfortunate how society has made being a better human seem like having materials and luxuries by oneself and not making other lives great when the concept is about touching other lives and making it better.

Take the lives of the people who have made it in life and are impacting the world positively, and you’ll know that they made other lives better, and by that, they’ve also become better.

Take Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Elon Mask Etc.

These are people who have better the lives of others, and through that, they’ve also become better.

To become a better human is all about making other lives better, and through that, you’ll become better. It’s about others and not oneself solely.

“If you want to create abundance for yourself, create it for someone else.” — Neale Donald Walsch

In whatever you do remember this

Just as everything we do for others, we do for ourselves, and if we treat people right and make them better, it always comes back to us, you must ensure that your words, actions, and deeds are still right with your brethren.

Because if you don’t treat people right and make their lives better, yours won’t better.

By the seed you sow, you’ll reap as everything that we do under the sun, there are repercussions, and no one goes free without paying the penalties of their wrongs just you get paid for the good things you do.

You always want to remember it’s a karmic world, and whatever you’re doing, you’ll receive a payment for it.

Therefore, you want to make love lead in everything you do and puts people first. You must ensure that, what you wouldn’t happy with metered out to you, you wouldn’t get it out to others. Because if you don’t and maltreat others, you get the same treatment. By the gun you pull, you’ll get gunned.

I’m aware of this. So, I always make sure I treat people right because I’m not too fond of it when someone treats me wrong.

How about you? Do you treat people just as you want them to treat you?

Or you do the opposite, thinking of yourself as necessary than your fellow.

And later show off material stuff to the world and claim to be a better human.

Which one are you?

The opposite is true

All along, there has been this philosophy that being a better human is by treating and taking good care of oneself and ensuring one’s betterment.

But from what we’ve seen, we can now tell that to be a better human is by treating others right, which gets back to you to be better.

With this, we can say that everything society has taught us concerning the concept of better human isn’t right but false.

We are conditioned to think a better human is he who has life figured out as having a job, career, cars, luxuries, etc. Those people, doing well materially from society’s perspective.

But the true meaning of it is how you treat others, most notably but not yourself.

In conclusion

The concept of being a better human isn’t about how better ones’ life looks or how one cares for themselves.

Taking care of oneself is one aspect. But a more significant chunk of this concept is about how one treats others and make their lives better.

Therefore, if you want to be a better human, you must have it in mind to make others better. As by it, you’ll become better.

Anything away from this is a fallacy, and if you do the opposite, your life will never be better.

So, make other lives better first, and you’ll be better. Because that’s what being a better human is all about. People!
