We’ve all been there. We’ve all had a task we dreaded because it was difficult or took a long time. You might have also postponed simple and easy tasks, like I usually do.

However, procrastination is just a short time comfort creating long time discomfort.

You trust your ability to squeeze a lot of work in a short time. Or, like in my case, you feel like you work better under pressure.

That’s not true. Even if you’ve successfully done it multiple times, you still was under huge anxiety within that working time frame.

And sooner or later, it will cause issues.

You don’t want to end up in that situation, so let me give you not 3, not 2, just one simple trick to overcome this.

A simple trick to overcome procrastination

This is a method that gained some popularity during the past years, mostly due to the book Atomic Habits that I highly recommend.

It’s called „The 2 minute method”

Basically, the idea is that when you want to postpone a task, doesn’t matter if it’s important or not, you should allow yourself to work on it for 2 minutes only.

It’s a small enough commitment that you don’t feel anxious about, but will make a massive difference.

Studies suggest that within 2 minutes, you can start feeling motivated and get into the flow state. And in 90% of the cases it will end up in you finishing up the task, which will give you a great feeling of accomplishment.

Moreover, you will get an event bigger dopamine spike, which will usually end up in you completing more tasks and never falling behind on your to-do list.

In conclusion, just give yourself 2 minutes. It might make a much bigger impact that you might think.

This was probably one of my shortest articles, but less is more, and I consider this method to have a huge value in my productivity system, so it deserved a post of it’s own.
