How To Be Unstoppable In Producing Content
From one article per day to being a content-machine
When I started writing on this platform back in late 2020, I said to myself these lines
- I will write non-stop
- I will be known as a content-making machine. I am fired up and will do my thing.
- Nobody can stop me. I will make a lot of money by committing to my writing objectives.
Then realities of life sinker in — too many things were on my plate. I have a family to lead, do my part in homeschooling my kids. Attend to my growing consulting business had gotten in the way of the routine.
Because of so many things on my hands and in my head, I only created two articles each month starting December from an average of three-digit monthly income down to twelve dollars. What I’ve been working on for over a year has deteriorated. I need to start over again.
You cannot rely on this one alone
When I started writing on this platform, I was motivated when I discovered that I could make money on my own time on any day.
I was earning bonuses — and it furthered me make more until I felt burnout most of the time due to the pressure of — making content. Having determination is a good start — but it will not sustain you in the long run.
We must seek help or support from others to keep us going — and not carry everything into our hands. It is not the only element you need to get back on track in case you are bothered by so many noises in your life.
It is the same principle in writing; it is essential to have a community to keep you up. No man is an island.
Reduce the variability
Our life routine can get in our way. At times it can be complicated.
Embracing a system allows us to manage things happening in our daily activities. We must knit the models and tools all together to serve our purpose.
And what is that purpose? To be consistently producing meaningful content.
A system must be efficient, contains all the ingredients you need to serve your objectives. End of the day, the model and tools that help you carry out the system should be repeatable and doable every day.
Content that does not suck
I have published around 140 articles on this platform — and when I check my stats, I would see a lot of numbers. Some have a low read ratio — but some of my work are hitting good numbers — so I would write or expand on the same subject with different narration.
There are also trending articles from other authors I follow. Whether about personal growth, money, or doing business — if it trends, I would try to get my hands on it to give more lens about the subject matter.
It saves me the effort to generate original stories that would take time and consume my energy.
Different storytelling structures
A good storyteller or writer knows how to use various templates in talking about a simple subject.
Good artist copy. Great artist steal
Pablo Picasso
I am sure you have seen this famous quote in one of the articles you read. Picasso meant that good artists try to mimic the style of other artists. But a great one selects elements and creates a new mix of outcomes.
When we translate this into writing, it is a matter of stealing some ingredients from other authors and expanding and narrating it differently by using different storytelling structures or frameworks. Great writers here do it on this platform.
Opposing stories: I would recall Zulie Rane wrote last June 2021 about how she cheated on her job with her side hustle.
She claimed in that headline that it was the best decision in her life. Eva Grape contested the story. In response to the former, she wrote why cheating on your job with your side hustle is unethical.
Having opposition views can either make you or break you. If you are up to the challenge, this can polarize your readers.
Before and after story: I see a lot of content about this theme on LinkedIn. I also use it most of the time to emphasize transformation throughout the years. You have gained weight and lost some materially — or you were a nobody in the past — and now you are something. This format works great if done correctly.
Controversies and tips: When you see famous people giving you secrets about money or how they became rich. It will surely hook you to click on that story. Some have abused it. But if you can pull this off, your article would perform provided it is of quality.
Final Thoughts
After following these steps, I would again observe my stats, pick up the performing ones and repeat the entire process.
Observing a process in writing helps reduce anxiety and overthinking. Being aware of activities that reduces downtime of generating new ideas and organizing your thoughts to arrive at a good product.
When a framework is present — uniformity and scalability of your content become a reality.
