Currently many people have been forced to work remotely, and although at first this may be a dream for most of us and it has a lot of benefits, the truth is that not everything is as good as it seems.

One of the most difficult things about starting to work remotely is concentrating. This is because we are used to home being a place of rest, not work. For that reason today i’m going to tell you the tips that worked for me to be productive at home:

1. Get up at least an hour before work begins

That will help you to be ready for the day and activate your brain. Things that will help you to start your day could be: 10–15 minutes of workout, take a shower and have breakfast.

2. Dress like you are going out (or at least take off your pijama)

This part is important because your brain is used to being productive when you have a different type of clothing. Severals studies say that your brain can change its productivity depending on the clothes that you have, that’s because your brain is used to rest when you have your pijamas on.

3. Make a workspace

Search for a space to work in your house, can’t be your bed (I wrote the reason in this post). When you work on the same space everyday, eventually you will concentrate more.

4. Don’t use social media when you are working

Many people tend to use their social networks on the work computer, but this is a mistake because it makes you unconscious of what you are doing. If you use your computer only for work, when you are in front of it, your brain will focus only on that.

I know that with all the thing that is happening right know around the world you want to be informed, but that doesn’t help because what you will do is to worry. Try to watch the news after work, so you don’t think about things you can’t control during your day.

5. Take breaks

Take breaks are very important, because if you only work, you will get tired much faster and you will not be productive. Something that I do is Work for 20 minutes and rest 5–10, you can watch your phone, walk around the house, drink water in that time and when you go back, you will be ready to keep working.

6. Search for your productive hours and do the important things first

We all have a time of the day in which we are most productive, they can be in the morning or afternoon. Take that time to do the important things and the work that requires you to think. Something that helped me a lot to prioritize is make a to do list.

7. Respect your schedule

One of the disadvantages of working from home is that sometimes we forget that we follow a schedule and we work extra. It is important for your body and mind to respect your hours of rest. So if your workday is over, please don’t do overtime, your body will become too exhausted and in the end you won’t do a good job.

Working at home have many advantages but also a greater commitment. We must know how to use our time correctly so that it is beneficial for us. What others tips you have?
