How To Be Productive As a Writer? 6 Methods To Be Productive Writer

I feel the pain of procrastinating while being a full-time writer, and here is my hack to be productive as a writer.

'I have a goal of writing 30 articles a month.'

This is what I promise myself every month but end up publishing less than ten articles in a month. This is because I tried to write long-form articles that rank on Google, and this process takes more time and is sometimes the reason why I don't publish more stories.

I have enlisted several reasons that might impact your productivity. Procrastination hurts, it is a pain, and someone inside you continuously hurts you for being unproductive.

I was thinking of finding ways to be more productive, and I am my opinion, the following are the reasons why most writers or bloggers feel very unproductive and waste their time on things that aren't important.

Overthinking the topics:

Overthinking about the topics could be the №1 thing. Sometimes I visit the stories section of my Medium account, and there are some random stories that I am not interested in writing them. They end up getting deleted. Sometimes ideas strike your mind, but it is better to look for other platforms like Quora or YouTube to find topics you want to write about.

Having no ideas to write about is also a huge productivity loss for you as you might get demotivated. The best thing to have more ideas for your next blog posts is to write the title or the theme of the new idea every time you have one. You can always pull the data and information and publish nine articles a week when you have something to write.

Do one task at a time:

Multi-tasking is energy drainage. You end up doing something but didn't achieve the goals. The best way to not achieve something is to multi-tasking it. Close all the tabs in your Internet browser and focus on the task on hand. A To-do list could be a very productive thing to do and help you achieve more with your day.

I did this before, and sometimes I struck into the net of multi-task, but then I reminded myself that this is a total waste of time.

Take a break or maybe two (write-in sessions)

Take five minutes to break after 25 minutes. Having longer sessions could be tiring, and it exhausts you. Take a sip of water or do a little jogging. It is good for health and could have many benefits. I find myself working more and being more productive when working in sessions than writing something in one go. You might be very effective and write a great article in 2-hour setting, but you wouldn't be able to focus on more projects and want to take a long nap or

You can also use software that could help you remind the time of sessions. There are a lot of cool apps available, the one I am using is called 'Pomodoro,' where you can set up your session time and how much (in minutes) break you want to take. There are a lot of similar apps available in the Playstore or Appstore, and you can always choose an alternative.

Find your sweat time.

Sweat time where you can be more productive is more synonym with finding your partner's G-spot during sexual intercourse. Most writers start writing at 5:00 am and end up working and writing for at least five hours. This is where you can write and do most of your job. So, I would say, 'the best time for writers is to write in the morning.'

Track your writing every day:

“When I am productive all day, I happy sleep during the night, I am sad when I am don’t”

Being non-productive is hurting me. It is a pain, and I think this is something I develop myself. You can track your writing by setting a goal for writing a number of words and seeing how you are doing. Are you writing enough every day? is this week is better than the previous week? All these questions could be answered by 'you' looking to your performance.

Let say; your performance is decreasing day by day; ask yourself this question; why is this happening? Is this is because you are watching too much Netflix or you drinking cow milk?

Take the necessary steps to ensure the next day or the next week is way better than the previous one.

Goes into the Cave for writing:

Silvia presented this research, and the method was named 'Cave Mode.'

  • Stop receiving calls.
  • Stop the phone for disturbing you with notification or probably delete Facebook.
  • Stop every activity that could be disturbing.

PS: A guide to being productive as a writer:

  • Don't overthink the topics. Write the ideas every time you have one.
  • Don't multi-task; focus on one activity at a time.
  • Write in sessions. Have a 25 minutes writing session and take 5 minutes break. You can be more productive all day.
  • Find the time you are most productive.
  • Track your performance every day and week. Then, do a comparison and measure what you are doing right or wrong.
  • Goes into the Cave mode. Let people or gadgets don't disturb you from writing.
