How to Be Positive With Your Inner Author

Enjoy Sharing About What Happened

Increasing Writing Skills by Creatively Writing About “Baby It’s Cold Outside”

We usually do not consider things that are always around us and become commonplace as something to share. In this case, try finding a time when the weather was colder in your area than usual.

Write about what happened. Keep the topic positive so you can enjoy sharing about what happened.

I was born in Montana, in the northeastern part, close to the Canadian border. While winters were usually quite cold growing up, one winter, I had the experience of needing to be outside in 70 degrees below zero weather. That might not be as cold as it is in your part of the world, but, for me, that was the coldest I remember.

That was many years ago, and I can still remember quite clearly about the event. The extraordinary way the snow crunched under my feet as I walked and the clearness of the air. I have a picture of the experience, even though I am not a weather expert. I do not have to explain what was happening — just the wonderful memory of that day in the snow and cold.

See if you can take time and write in detail about what was going on when your weather was colder than average.

· Why you needed to be outside in that kind of weather

· The things you remembered most about that time

· Any other details you can add

When you get ready to write, you can draw on these types of descriptions and events. Use them to enrich the story you are writing about and give your story more credibility to your reader. Get your reader involved with your description to experience it as if they had also been there.

You can do this for any weather. I would encourage you to keep the experience positive as your inner author will be much more cooperative with you if you do.
