How To Be Outstanding In Everything
Appetizer for your mediocre life

I think it is very normal for us, normal people to feel like we are nothing good, that we can not do anything better than others. I have been in that position too. A lot of people have too and it is okay. But to be trapped in that train of thoughts is not a good thing. Once in a while, it is okay, but if you think about it continuously, it becomes an illness.
I am going to share these tips or motivation you could say, these have helped me go through my hardest days. These tips will help you to excel in whatever you wish to excel in.
Start now
I think that sometimes it is not that you are not better than others. You look at Instagram, LinkedIn, or other social media, then you look at successful people. You start to think that you want to be as successful as they are. Then suddenly, you start to think that you will never be them because maybe they have a special talent, maybe they are born to be like that. Right right right, I have been there too.
But you know what, if you do the things that I mentioned, it is very likely that your thoughts are true, you will never be them. Why? Because all you do is think, fantasize being successful. You never started. Or maybe you want to start, but you worry too much, you think too much about the concept, or maybe you want to wait a bit more until you are ready. Or maybe you think that now is not the right time, or maybe you are too scared.
But here is a quote that pushes me to start whenever I feel like procrastinating.
A year from now you will wish you had started today — Karen Lamb
I have experienced the moment where I regret the things that I did not do. Time goes on fast. If you do not start now, you will miss out on a lot of things. If you had started last year, maybe this year you are on the way to something more. Experience is the best teacher. Remember, you who start today will be better than people who just start next year.
Every expert was once a beginner
We talked about starting, now how to retain your will to pursue whatever you are doing further. I think when you started something, you must have an interest in it, be it money, passion, etc. When you have an interest, let’s say you want to make YouTube videos because you are interested in the money, you must have a role model. Pewdipie, maybe other YouTubers, you name it.
But you noticed whatever they are doing seems so professional. You feel inferior. Or one day, you meet some influential people in your field in some seminars, and there is some networking night, it will be extremely valuable to connect to them. But you feel so shy to approach because you are just a piece of popcorn, while they are so respectable. You know all the things that make you feel inferior, I have been there.
In those moments, the only thing you need to remember is that every expert was once a beginner. They all have been in your position, to reach the top, they too had to start from the bottom. You are just like the past them. This is why, when you just started, and you feel inferior and demotivated, remember every expert was once a beginner. You need to be a beginner to be an expert. One day you will be the “once a beginner” person.
Be very persistent
Every successful person will tell you that the key to success is to be persistent. Do it constantly until it becomes a habit. It may take years and years of constant effort but just do it. Do not pay too much attention to the reward because it is very likely you will not see any progress. Do it constantly for a certain period, you will be surprised at the result. This is a quality that differentiates a lot of people. Being persistent and constant does not mean you have to do the same thing over and over again. You can explore, try different methods but remember the goal. Just like when you want to get your body goals, you work out constantly, but the type of work out can be explored to keep the spark.
Always do extra-miles
Now the real tips, always do more than what you are asked of. A lot of people are too lazy to receive extra assignments. At work, for instance, they want to just do their job and nothing else. When asked to help, they pretend they are busy or refuse to help because “it is not my job”. But let me tell you, doing more means extra responsibilities. You are trusted to do the job. You get to learn new things. Your boss sees the value in you, which is why they trust you to help with other jobs.
These trivial actions mean a lot. It makes you stand out. Imagine, if you are the type of person who is very active, whenever there are some opportunities, the first person people remember will be you. Moreover, when you choose to go beyond your job-desk, you choose to improve, you choose to be on your boss’s good side, you choose to learn new things, you choose to take more responsibilities. The logic is this, money and position equal responsibility. Let’s say you want to be promoted faster, try to grab as many responsibilities as possible, your company will have no choice but to promote you. More responsibilities mean more money and a higher status.
