Being able to accept ourselves is essential in order to live a meaningful life. — J.D Rehbein-Wrightstein

Compassion and acceptance are a part of human nature. It is a necessity to allow yourself the ability to be free from doubts. If you can’t, it will become your master for years, causing you pain and misery on many levels.

This post seeks to provide insight on how you can overcome your own doubts in order to live a more meaningful life; with the help of some inspirational quotes on self-love.

With self-love and acceptance, we can gain the ability to be free from doubt. This can be likened to a small child who is able to accept themselves without any worries of being rejected. Most adult humans, unfortunately, have traumas from childhood from which they continue to struggle with. Even if these childhood traumas may have been healed, it is still possible that some guilt still remains from the unhappiness experienced during these painful times. This can lead to an unconscious desire to repeat these traumas in an attempt to get them out of the way.

But how can we overcome this? Here are the solutions that I have found through my own experience:

  • Understand your own self-worth.
  • Know that you deserve happiness, and don’t settle for less.
  • Understand that life isn’t easy but it’s as simple as choice. Your choices will either lead you to growth or stagnation.
  • Be aware of your own negative emotions and how they affect you. It is not about being free from them but about learning how to use them for a constructive purpose.
  • To avoid regrets, learn to accept decisions that you make now. Don’t fear the unknown because it is the unknown which will allow you to grow in the present moment.

Accept yourself. Know that you are capable of love, and learn to love yourself with every passing day. It is the only way to live an extraordinary life in which your happiness is paramount.

Don’t settle for mediocrity because when you do, it means that you are not happy with who you are. Allow yourself the freedom of being free from doubt and the thoughts that hold you back from self-love and compassion.

A person learns how to love himself through the simple acts of loving and being loved by someone else. — Haruki Murakami

It is easy for everyone to find an inspiration that fits their taste. There are many pictures of celebrities on social media sites that show millions of people who look up to them for guidance in life. But, are these people really happier with themselves?

I have seen many celebrities on Instagram at parties and nightclubs, but you never see them without someone. It’s as if they need approval in order to feel as if they are worth something. They can only be happy when there is someone who has given them the ultimate accolade of acceptance — unconditional love.

This is the realization that I had when I started my journey of self-love. I learned that the best people to look up to are ordinary people who don’t have a following on social media, but they are still able to live a happy life; free from judgments and free from ideas of what they should be doing at that moment in time.

After looking inwards and taking inventory of your own life, you too can become happy with who you are. The most important factor is to accept yourself entirely and not to judge every action that you make. This leads towards a more meaningful life, where instead of chasing others, you will be able to chase your own happiness.

With love and acceptance comes freedom from doubt.

The highest proof of courage is to be what we are. — Albert Camus

The ability to accept oneself is a core component of self-love. Without this, it becomes impossible to live in happiness and harmony with oneself. This form of acceptance may seem easy at first but by the time you’ve accepted everything about yourself, you realize just how big the challenge actually is.

The first solution I’ve figured out for overcoming our doubts is to accept ourselves. The problem is that most of us have negative thoughts about ourselves which prevent us from being free from doubt. It’s important to know that it’s normal and even expected for human beings to have negative thoughts — whether they be self-talk, criticism, or even conscious choices of actions.

Negative thoughts are the energy equivalent of static cling. We latch onto them, thinking they’re going to help us, but really they just make our problems worse…We can learn to neutralize those negative thoughts, and even reject them if we want to, but the first step is recognizing that we’re dealing with a negative thought. — Sadhguru

When you’re positive towards yourself, it becomes easier to accept yourself. Many people find this very hard because they are constantly working on themselves in order to achieve something that they never really had in the first place. Acceptance is an important part of happiness because you must be able to accept who you are before you can be happy.

Here are the steps that I have taken to be free from my own doubts;

What is the greatest love, the love that makes all other loves pale into insignificance? The greatest love is to learn how to love oneself. — Franz Kafka

  • Realize that you are a person with feelings, feelings which come from within you and cannot be changed.
  • Appreciate your life — all of it. Don’t fear making mistakes because mistakes teach us invaluable lessons. If we make the same mistake twice, learning from the first mistake doesn’t really count as much as something new.
  • Don’t be hard on yourself. Understand that it’s not about being perfect but about perfecting oneself. Each one of us has the potential to change for the better.
  • Don’t judge the choices of others. We are all human and we all make mistakes. The key is to learn from those mistakes.
  • Accept yourself wholly and completely. To be able to accept your flaws, you must first be able to accept yourself as a whole.

There are days when the hardest part of the journey is yourself.

At times, you may find yourself questioning every decision that you make. When this happens, I’d like to remind you that there are times when it might seem like no matter how hard we try, there may be some things we can’t change about ourselves — and that’s okay. We should never hinder our ability to love ourselves because in doing so, we will never be able to love others fully.

When each person is able to accept their own self, they will be able to learn how to love themselves in order to bring happiness with them into the world.
